Doriane Pin has taken the 2025 F1 Academy title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. After what has been a back and forth title battle, she describes Champion status as “beautiful“. The Frenchwoman was named Vice Champion in 2024, making this title even sweeter.
Pin is aware of how proud herself and Prema Racing can be, noting the hard work and dedication put into this title. She even went on to describe her never ending desire to win, ever since she stepped into a kart. Pin remains proud of her journey, especially her unforgettable F1 Academy journey.
“It’s amazing. Champion is a beautiful word to really fit our season. We can be really proud of all the work we have done since last year. We never gave up, we worked so hard on winning races, winning the title.
“Since the very first time I got in a go-kart, I wanted to win every single race I competed in. I’m very happy about my entire journey, and obviously my journey with F1 ACADEMY has been unforgettable. I’m very proud of all of this, and now we can celebrate it.”
A large portion of both her title battle, and her Race 2 battle has been with MP Motorsport and Ferrari driver Maya Weug. Having taken four wins and eight podiums this season, Pin only needed to finish 6th or higher to secure the Championship.
In describing her close battles with Weug, Pin spoke highly. Notably, she acknowledged Weug’s talent and how much she deserves success. The Frenchwoman also talked how amazing it is to race against and experienced driver. The close battles only benefitted Pin, having that driving force to push eachotehr further.
“Obviously it’s amazing to battle with an experienced driver, with someone who knows how to race. She’s talented and very much deserves her success this year. It was a close battle that I actually enjoyed a lot, because you need those drivers to push you and push each other to the top. We did exactly that so it was really positive.”
In both seasons of Pin’s F1 Academy journey, she has been backed by Mercedes and Prema Racing. She noted that Mercedes have been beside her from the get go, and have always offered her support. The professionalism, experience, and performance she has gained from working with them is something she’ll take into the remainder of her career.
“Mercedes have been there from day one. They are incredibly supportive of me every day, from bad days to good days. They bring professionalism, experience and performance into my racing career. It’s beautiful to achieve that together. Celebrating with them was a beautiful moment. I will remember it for my entire life.”
