Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA has finalised its driver line-up for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), confirming Jack Aitken as the final addition to its Hypercar programme.
The British racer steps into the seat vacated by former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button, who retired from professional motorsport following the season-ending Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain. Aitken will therefore join Earl Bamber and Sébastien Bourdais in the #38 Cadillac V-Series.R Hypercar next season.
With this signing, Cadillac completes its driver roster as it prepares for its fourth campaign in the championship.
Aitken brings experience across multiple categories as he joins Cadillac Herta Team JOTA for Hypercar campaign
Aitken arrives at the programme with an already impressive record in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The 30-year-old has claimed three victories and two pole positions across 22 IMSA appearances with Cadillac machinery.
Notably, he secured his first victory with the manufacturer in only his second start at Sebring in 2023. More recently, he closed the 2025 IMSA season in style by winning the final two rounds at Indianapolis and Road Atlanta. Those results helped him finish runner-up in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) standings, while he also secured second place in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup alongside Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti.
Beyond his IMSA achievements, Aitken has built a diverse and successful racing résumé. He previously claimed multiple race wins in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and Germany’s DTM touring car series.
In endurance racing, he has competed in the last four editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Earlier this year, he set the fastest Hypercar lap ever recorded at the Circuit de la Sarthe during the Hyperpole 1 session.
Furthermore, Aitken gained additional experience with the championship machinery when he took part in the FIA WEC Rookie Test in Bahrain last Sunday.
Aitken welcomes the opportunity as JOTA expresses confidence
Following the announcement, Aitken expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to step into the FIA WEC programme and join the successful JOTA operation.
“I’m very appreciative that Cadillac has that trust and is willing to give me this opportunity,” acknowledged the London-born racer, who will simultaneously continue to partner Bamber at Action Express Racing in IMSA competition in 2026. “It’s very exciting because I’ve never raced in FIA WEC and I’ve never raced with JOTA, even though we’ve come close a couple of times and have had a relationship that is now coming to fruition.
“They have fantastic people – from the drivers to the staff – and it’s a team that has achieved success in FIA WEC. I’m excited to take what I’ve learned in IMSA and bring that across to try to push things forward.”
JOTA Sport Director and Founder David Clark also welcomed the signing, highlighting Aitken’s pace and consistency as key attributes for success.
“We’re delighted to welcome Jack on-board,” echoed JOTA Sport Director and Founder, David Clark. “We’ve been following his progress closely this year and have been really impressed by his raw pace and consistency – both essential ingredients for success in the Hypercar category. As an existing member of the wider Cadillac Racing family, Jack is a natural fit for us. He already understands the culture, the people and the expectations within the Cadillac ecosystem.
“Beyond his performance on-track, Jack’s calm personality and team-first attitude make him an excellent addition to our driver line-up. We never take team chemistry for granted – six individual stars won’t win endurance races, but six drivers who work as one can. Everything we’ve seen from Jack so far shows he embodies that spirit, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes with the team next season.”
JOTA to maintain consistency in sister car for 2026 WEC Hypercar campaign
While the #38 entry welcomes a new driver, Cadillac will maintain continuity in its sister Hypercar. The #12 Cadillac V-Series.R will once again feature Alex Lynn, Norman Nato and Will Stevens. The trio delivered a consistent 2025 campaign, becoming the only crew to score points in every FIA WEC race of the season. Their reliability and strong performances ultimately secured fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship.
During the season, they also achieved a major milestone for the American manufacturer by claiming Cadillac’s first FIA WEC victory at Interlagos. The result formed part of a memorable one-two finish for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA. In addition, the trio secured three pole positions throughout the year, including a historic front-row lockout for Cadillac at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Cadillac concluded its third FIA WEC campaign in fourth place in the Manufacturers’ Championship. The 2025 season also marked the brand’s first year partnering with the British JOTA squad.
Looking ahead, the team believes its blend of experienced drivers and fresh talent will help push the programme forward in 2026.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jack Aitken to the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA driver line-up,” commented Cadillac Racing Programme Manager, Keely Bosn. “He brings exceptional speed, technical insight and a fierce competitive spirit that perfectly complements the team.
“Our 2026 roster truly reflects strength-in-depth. With drivers competing across both IMSA and WEC, we’re building a unified programme that drives shared performance and development. I’m genuinely excited about the talent and energy this line-up brings to the season ahead.”
