ART Grand Prix has confirmed the signing of 16-year-old French talent Alexandre Munoz for the 2026 Formula Regional European Championship (FREC). As a result, the highly rated youngster takes a significant step up the single-seater ladder following a remarkable junior career. Moreover, this partnership signals a strong commitment from both driver and team to pursue success at one of Europe’s most competitive junior racing levels.

Munoz will line-up alongside Kabir Anurag and Matteo Giaccardi who previously competed in the 2026 FRME Trophy with ART Grand Prix.

A rapid rise through the ranks sees Munoz step into FREC with ART for 2026 campaign

Munoz’s ascent in motorsport has been nothing short of impressive. He began karting in 2021 and quickly established himself by winning two Occitania karting titles in 2022 and 2023, alongside a South regional title in 2023.

Subsequently, he transitioned to single-seaters in 2024, competing in the French Formula 4 Championship. Despite missing the opening round due to age restrictions, he steadily improved throughout the season and secured his maiden victory in the final round at Le Castellet.

Building on that momentum, Munoz delivered an outstanding campaign in 2025. Notably, he won the first four non-reverse-grid races of the season, setting a new benchmark in modern French F4.

In addition, he showcased consistency and composure under pressure, securing five wins, multiple pole positions, and nine podium finishes en route to the championship title. Even when setbacks occurred, including retirements and fierce on-track battles, Munoz maintained his lead and ultimately clinched the title at Le Mans.

Consequently, his dominant performances made his progression to Formula Regional a natural next step.

ART Grand Prix and Munoz ready for challenge of 2026 FREC campaign

ART Grand Prix Team Principal Sébastien Philippe expressed strong confidence in the young driver’s abilities.

“Alex has demonstrated immense talent and potential in his Formula 4 campaign last year. We are excited to have him join our FREC program and provide him with the platform to continue his development and showcase his skills at the next level. With his race-winning pedigree and impressive consistency, we are confident that Alex will be a force for the team.”

Meanwhile, Munoz himself expressed gratitude and determination ahead of his FREC debut.

“I am really proud to join ART Grand Prix this season in the FREC championship. A big thank you to all the people who made it happen. Keep pushing and see you on track!”

His words reflect both appreciation and ambition as he prepares to face a more competitive grid.

As Munoz steps into the Formula Regional European Championship, expectations will inevitably rise. Nevertheless, his proven ability to adapt, win races, and remain consistent positions him as a driver to watch.

Ultimately, this collaboration between ART Grand Prix and one of France’s brightest young prospects could mark the beginning of a journey towards the highest levels of motorsport.
