Elevate Motorsports Marketing has announced that Hillenburg Motorsports, based in Alvin, Texas, will compete in the 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas or FRAC). The announcement signals an exciting new chapter for the well-established racing team, which boasts deep roots in sprint car racing and a solid track record in Formula Mazda, Indy Lights, US F4, and its current leadership role in SCCA Club Racing.
The move to FR Americas is seen as a natural progression for Hillenburg Motorsports, which has long been known for its excellence in open-wheel car preparation and driver development. Therefore, the team’s transition into the high-level FR Americas series is a step up for its already successful programme, one that has produced notable drivers and consistently set competitive benchmarks in various racing categories.
A legacy of excellence in open-wheel racing
Hillenburg Motorsports’ reputation for developing talented drivers stems from its extensive involvement in multiple levels of motorsport. The team began with a focus on sprint car racing before moving into more complex open-wheel categories such as Formula Mazda, Indy Lights, and US F4. Therefore, this journey through the ranks has equipped Hillenburg Motorsports with the knowledge and experience necessary to excel in higher-tier racing.
Not only does Hillenburg Motorsports operate out of its state-of-the-art facility in Alvin, Texas, but the team also plays a vital role in the Houston Region of the SCCA. It serves as the Customer Service Representative (CSR) for SCCA in the Southwest and Midwest Divisions, providing support for competitors in the Formula Enterprise 2 (FE2) class. Thus, this involvement has cemented Hillenburg Motorsports as a cornerstone of regional racing, particularly in Texas.
At the helm of Hillenburg Motorsports are father and son, Roy and Russ Hillenburg. Roy Hillenburg, in particular, brings a wealth of experience and passion to the team. Having been deeply involved in racing for decades, Roy remains an active competitor in the Formula Enterprise 2 car, regularly taking part in SCCA events. His dedication to grassroots racing and his focus on driver development have allowed Hillenburg Motorsports to nurture numerous drivers as they rise through the ranks of motorsport.
“We’ve been involved in racing for decades, and one of the things we enjoy most is developing new talent and helping drivers take the next step in their careers,” said Roy Hillenburg. “Entering FR Americas is a natural progression for our team. We’re excited to bring our experience from sprint cars, Formula Mazda, Indy Lights, US F4, and our ongoing SCCA program with the Formula Enterprise 2 into this professional series. It’s going to be a great season.”
