Fred Green continued his flawless start to the GB4 Championship by claiming his second victory of the opening weekend at Silverstone. The Elite Motorsport driver controlled the race from lights to flag once again, demonstrating composure despite multiple interruptions.

However, the race ended prematurely after a red flag halted proceedings, with officials reverting the results to lap four due to insufficient time to restart.

Early incidents trigger opening Safety Car in Race 2 at the 2026 GB4 Silverstone opener

The race began with immediate drama. Archie Davies retired at the first corner following contact, while Dayton Coulthard and Torrin Byrne both spun at Maggots. Byrne’s incident forced him out of the race, prompting an early safety car deployment.

As a result, the field struggled to settle into a rhythm, with interruptions shaping the outcome from the outset.

Second intervention brings race to a halt

Although racing resumed briefly, another series of incidents ultimately decided the contest. Archie Bullard spun at Luffield, and shortly afterwards, Holly Miall and Enzo Rujugiro collided in a separate incident at the same corner.

Consequently, race control red-flagged the session. With time running out, officials confirmed that the classification would revert to the last completed racing lap, handing victory to Green.

Behind Green, Enzo Hallman secured second place for Hillspeed, while Jason Smyth completed the podium for Douglas Motorsport.

Thomas Ingram Hill experienced mixed fortunes. He had overtaken Smyth on track after the Irish driver made a late mistake. Nevertheless, the rollback of results meant he dropped to fourth in the final classification.

Matan Achituv delivered one of the standout performances of the race. He executed a brave move on Alex O’Grady during lap four, sweeping around the outside at Stowe before completing the pass into Vale. That decisive manoeuvre earned him fifth place, while O’Grady, who had started fourth, ultimately finished sixth after losing ground early on.

Further down the order, several drivers made strong progress. Romuald Bocquet finished seventh ahead of Connor Willis, Josh McLean and Conor Grant, who rounded out the top ten.

Meanwhile, Luke Hilton produced a remarkable recovery drive. After starting from the back due to a Qualifying disqualification, he gained 17 positions to finish 11th, bringing his total overtakes for the weekend to an impressive 37.

Momentum builds for Green

With two wins from two races, Green has established early control of the championship battle. Moreover, his ability to remain calm amid disruptions highlights his maturity and racecraft. If he maintains this form, he will enter the remainder of the season as a clear title contender.
