Maxim Rehm maintained his impressive run of form by securing another podium finish during the GB3 Championship weekend at Silverstone. The Rodin Motorsport driver delivered a calm and controlled performance to claim second place, marking his third consecutive podium stretching back to the end of last season.
Although the race featured multiple interruptions and changing circumstances, Rehm remained consistent throughout. As a result, he strengthened his early championship position while continuing to build momentum with his new team.
Calm approach delivers another strong GB3 result for Rehm at Silverstone
Rehm approached the race with a measured mindset, focusing on consistency rather than unnecessary risks. He settled into position early and capitalised on key developments ahead.
“I think I have every step now. One, two and three. But I think the race was pretty chill, to be honest. From the start, I was just sort of settling in. And I guess then, obviously, unluckily for Deagen [Fairclough], he had an engine issue.”
Following Fairclough’s retirement, Rehm moved into second place and held the position comfortably. From there, he focused on maintaining his rhythm and avoiding mistakes in a race that demanded concentration.
Limited opportunities to challenge for victory
Despite securing second place, Rehm acknowledged that he had few realistic chances to challenge for the win. Track position and aerodynamic turbulence made overtaking particularly difficult.
“And I sort of stayed in P2. I had a little chance into T1 after the Safety Car restart, but he closed the door. And then it was just sort of following him in the dirty air. Couldn’t really do much. I think we’re still lacking a bit of pace, have to work on that. But yeah, let’s see what we can do in the reverse-grid. It’s going to be a fun race.”
Consequently, he spent much of the race managing the gap rather than attacking for the lead. Nevertheless, his ability to secure maximum points under the circumstances highlights his growing consistency.
Focus remains unchanged despite rising competition
As the GB3 field continues to show increasing competitiveness at the front, Rehm remains unfazed by the pressure. Instead, he keeps his approach simple and focused on execution.
“I don’t really care, to be honest. It’s like I just try to make the best, whatever the circumstances are.”
This mindset allows him to adapt quickly to different race scenarios. Moreover, it ensures that he extracts the best possible result regardless of external factors.
Looking ahead, the reverse-grid race presents Rehm with another chance to convert his consistency into a victory. While he recognises the need for improved pace, he remains optimistic about the challenge.
With three podiums in succession and a solid foundation already established, Rehm continues to position himself as a key contender. If Rodin Motorsport can unlock additional performance, he could soon turn consistent podiums into race wins.
