Kyuho Lee secured a well-earned podium in the final GB3 race at Silverstone, rounding off a competitive and encouraging opening weekend to the 2026 Championship. The Elite Motorsport driver featured prominently in the decisive final-lap battle and ultimately crossed the line in second place after a dramatic three-way fight for victory. As a result, he left Silverstone with confidence and clear signs of progress in his first GB3 outing.
Exciting race from start to finish: Lee reflects on 2026 GB3 Silverstone Race 3
Lee thoroughly enjoyed the intensity of the race, which remained close and unpredictable throughout. With multiple drivers in contention and the lead changing hands in the closing stages, he remained fully engaged from start to finish.
“It was great racing out there. It was really exciting from beginning until the end. I really enjoyed every moment.”
In the closing moments, Lee positioned himself for a potential race win as the leaders battled ahead. Recognising the limited opportunity available, he committed to a decisive move on the final lap in an attempt to take victory.
“Yeah, it was last lap, wasn’t it? So I had to go for it. It’s a little bit unfortunate because we could have got a win, but I’m still happy with the podium, so I think we will keep building like this and hopefully we can get the win throughout this season.”
Although the move did not ultimately deliver the win, it secured him second place and demonstrated his willingness to attack under pressure.
Strong start to his GB3 career
Lee also reflected positively on his overall performance across the weekend, particularly given the step up from Formula 4 machinery. He acknowledged the learning curve but highlighted steady improvement throughout the event.
“For me, it was a really solid week, especially coming into GB3, such a faster car, more downforce than Formula 4. It was a little bit tricky in the beginning, but I managed to do that well and I’m learning every time. So, so far, so good. Of course, the learning continues and the progress continues.”
In conclusion, Lee’s podium finish marked a promising start to his GB3 campaign. While he narrowly missed out on victory, his pace and racecraft in a high-pressure finale highlighted his growing confidence. Ultimately, the combination of learning, consistency, and aggressive race execution positions him well for future rounds, where he aims to convert podium pace into race wins.
