Dante Vinci completed his first GB3 race weekend at Silverstone with a focus on learning and development, as he adapted to a significant step up from Italian F4 machinery. While the results did not fully reflect his expectations, he gathered important data and experience across the weekend. As a result, he left Silverstone viewing the event as a foundation for future improvement rather than a final outcome.

Testing pace undermined by Qualifying struggles

Vinci revealed that early promise in testing did not fully translate into Qualifying performance, which ultimately shaped the rest of his weekend. He indicated that small margins had a significant impact on his overall position and race prospects.

“Testing was quite strong. I think there’s a little bit of room to play with on my side, especially in Quali. I won’t say what it is, but there was something that definitely could have put us where we should have been the entire weekend.”

Furthermore, he acknowledged that starting positions in GB3 play a crucial role in determining race outcomes.

“And as you know, racing goes, Quali makes a big, big difference. So if you don’t have a great Quali, you’re going to struggle a little bit during the weekend, which was kind of where this weekend was. It was kind of damage limitations in a way.”

Therefore, his focus shifted towards learning and extracting positives rather than chasing outright results.

Vinci highlights racecraft development despite difficult GB3 weekend at Silverstone

Despite the challenges, Vinci felt encouraged by his race performances and his ability to adapt to the demands of GB3 machinery. Drawing on experience from Italian F4, he continued to refine his approach to racing in a more powerful and competitive environment.

“Yeah, I mean, with the amount of testing we’ve had, I think I’ve kind of gotten used to the car in a way. So now it’s just implementing the racecraft and ideas and racecraft learned from my previous years, which was in Italian F4 last year. So, I think I’ve done pretty well racing-wise. It’s just, you know, Quali makes that big difference.”

Consequently, he views his race pace and adaptability as key strengths moving forward.

Looking ahead to Spa

Vinci now turns his attention to Spa-Francorchamps, a circuit he is eager to experience in competitive conditions. With limited prior mileage at the track, he expects another important learning opportunity.

“I am, I am,” he replied when asked if he was excited for the next round in Spa. “We’ll see how it goes with the longer gear ratios. But it should be real fun because Spa is a real racing track. So I’m looking forward to it.”

When asked about prior experience at Spa, he confirmed only limited testing exposure.

“We did the two-day test last year, but that’s all.”

A learning-focused start to GB3 at Silverstone for Vinci

Vinci’s Silverstone debut highlighted both the challenges and demands of stepping up to GB3 competition. While qualifying performance limited his potential results, he still extracted valuable lessons across the weekend.

Ultimately, his focus on development, combined with encouraging racecraft and growing familiarity with the car, suggests that stronger results may follow as he continues to adapt throughout the season.
