Fred Green delivered another composed performance in the 2026 GB4 Championship at Oulton Park, converting Race 1 pole into his third victory of the 2026 season for Elite Motorsport. The young Briton came under immediate pressure from fellow front-row starter Alex O’Grady on the opening lap. However, Green defended firmly as the pair went wheel to wheel through several corners, eventually holding the lead after a tense first-lap battle.
From there, Green and O’Grady remained locked together throughout the 20-minute contest. Although O’Grady repeatedly applied pressure and set the fastest lap of the race, Green controlled the decisive moments and secured victory by 0.785 seconds after 13 laps.
Green withstands opening-lap attack from O’Grady to keep early lead in 2026 GB4 Race 1 at Oulton Park
Green made the start he needed from pole, but O’Grady immediately challenged him into the opening sequence. The KMR Sport driver stayed alongside through several corners and forced Green to defend hard in the early exchanges.
Nevertheless, Green kept his car ahead and protected the inside line when it mattered. That opening lap proved crucial, as Oulton Park’s tight and technical layout made passing difficult once the field settled into rhythm.
O’Grady refused to let Green escape. Instead, he kept the gap below one second for the entire race and pushed the Elite Motorsport driver through every phase of the contest.
O’Grady keeps pressure on in tense lead fight
O’Grady produced one of the strongest pursuit drives of the race. During the opening laps, he reduced the margin to just over three tenths of a second and remained close enough to force Green into constant defensive awareness.
Furthermore, O’Grady set the fastest lap of the race on lap 10 with a 1m34.827s, underlining his pace in clean air and his determination to stay in the victory fight. That effort brought the gap back down to around six tenths of a second late on.
However, Green had just enough in hand. He managed the final laps cleanly, avoided mistakes and crossed the line less than a second ahead to continue his strong start to the campaign.
Hallman completes podium as Ingram Hill continues fourth-place run
Behind the lead battle, Enzo Hallman converted his third-place starting position into a podium finish for Hillspeed. Although he could not match the pace of Green and O’Grady across the full race distance, he stayed clear of the chasing pack and secured another strong result.
Thomas Ingram Hill followed in fourth for Fortec Motorsports. The result continued his run of fourth-place finishes from Silverstone, again placing him close to the podium but just outside the top three.
Meanwhile, Torrin Byrne produced one of the standout performances behind the leading group. The Pace Performance driver climbed to fifth and recorded his best GB4 race result so far, finishing ahead of Elite Motorsport’s Matan Achituv.
Willis gains early ground as Del Grosso benefits late on
Connor Willis made progress on the opening lap, moving past Franciszek Cegielski for seventh. The Hillspeed driver then held position and finished four tenths clear of Cegielski, who still led the Rookie contenders for Fortec Motorsports.
Further back, Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso gained a place late in the race after Luke Hilton retired. The Elite Motorsport driver moved into ninth, while Archie Davies completed the top ten for Scorpio Motorsport after rising four places during the race.
Hilton’s retirement ended a difficult outing for the Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing driver. After starting ninth, he ran for nine laps before dropping out of the classification.
Green extends 2026 GB4 Championship advantage after Race 1 at Oulton Park
Green’s latest victory strengthened his early-season championship position. After the first four races of the year, he holds a 20-point lead over O’Grady at the top of the standings. However, O’Grady’s pace at Oulton Park showed that the title fight remains far from settled. His fastest lap and sustained pressure demonstrated that he has the speed to challenge Green directly across the weekend.
As a result, the remaining Oulton Park races carry extra importance. Green has momentum and points in hand, but O’Grady remains close enough to respond if he can convert his pace into victory.
Racing at Oulton Park resumes on Monday, with the next race scheduled for 09:45 and the final contest set for 15:00 local time.
