Martin Molnar completed a strong weekend for Rodin Motorsport with a podium finish in Race 2 at Spa-Francorchamps, adding another important result to his growing 2026 GB3 Championship campaign.
The Hungarian driver started fifth and moved forward during the race, most notably passing Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough for third at Les Combes. Although Nikita Bedrin controlled the race from the front and Maxim Rehm held second, Molnar produced a measured drive to secure the final podium place.
As a result, Molnar continued his climb in the Drivers’ Championship and helped Rodin Motorsport leave Belgium level with VRD Racing at the top of the Teams’ Championship.
Molnar pleased after Race 2 progress
Molnar enjoyed an active race at Spa, where he had to work his way forward rather than simply hold position. After losing ground to the leading pair early on, he kept his pace strong and made the decisive move on Fairclough to claim third.
“Yeah, it was a pretty good race. Had a few overtakes as well. Yeah, it was a fun race, so I’m really happy with how it went.”
His move for the podium came after he closed onto Fairclough and used the tow exiting La Source. He then attacked into Les Combes, completing the pass around the outside to move into third.
From there, Molnar controlled the final podium position and brought the car home behind Bedrin and Rehm. Therefore, the result gave Rodin Motorsport two cars on the Race 2 podium, following Abbi Pulling’s historic Race 1 victory on Saturday.
Early gap limits further progress
Although Molnar showed strong pace once he cleared Fairclough, the early phase of the race prevented him from challenging the top two. Bedrin made a clean start from pole, while Rehm established himself in second during the opening lap.
Molnar admitted that the gap created early in the race made further progress difficult, even though his pace remained competitive later on.
“Yeah, I mean at the beginning I couldn’t make those places in Lap 1, so I had a bit of gap to them. So I couldn’t work it down in the end, but the pace was quite strong. So yeah, looking forward to Hungary.”
That summary reflected the wider pattern of the race. Bedrin quickly escaped at the front, while Rehm also maintained enough pace to keep Molnar out of reach. Nevertheless, Molnar’s ability to move forward and secure third highlighted Rodin’s strength across the Spa weekend.
Moreover, his podium added to a strong points haul after he was also promoted to third in Race 1 following Rehm’s post-race penalty.
Hungary brings fresh challenge for Molnar
The next GB3 round will take place at the Hungaroring in early July, giving Molnar a particularly significant event on the calendar. However, despite his Hungarian background, he confirmed that the circuit will be new territory for him.
“No, it’s going to be my first time, so yeah, really exciting.”
That makes the next round both a challenge and an opportunity. The Hungaroring’s technical layout places a premium on rhythm, precision and qualifying performance, so Molnar will need to adapt quickly during practice.
However, his Spa performance gives him momentum before the championship heads to Hungary. After a strong weekend in Belgium, he now has a platform to build from as he prepares for one of the most meaningful rounds of his season.
Molnar expects strong Hungarian support
Molnar also spoke warmly about the support he has received from Hungarian fans. Even at Silverstone, he noticed national support in the grandstands, and he expects that feeling to grow when GB3 arrives in Hungary.
“Yeah, definitely. Hungarian fans are really supporting and I saw a Hungarian flag even in Silverstone. So yeah, I was really happy to see that. But yeah, next round is in Hungary, so I’m really excited.
That support could make the Hungaroring weekend especially memorable. For Molnar, racing in front of Hungarian fans will add another layer of motivation as he looks to continue his strong run of results.
Furthermore, the next round offers Rodin Motorsport another chance to apply pressure in both championships. With Molnar, Rehm and Pulling all scoring heavily at Spa, the team now carries strong momentum into July.
Molnar carries Spa momentum into next round
Molnar’s Spa weekend underlined his growing consistency in the 2026 GB3 season. He combined race pace with decisive overtaking and delivered another podium at a crucial point in the championship.
Although Bedrin and Rehm remained out of reach in Race 2, Molnar maximised his opportunity and secured valuable points for both himself and Rodin Motorsport. Consequently, he leaves Spa with confidence before heading to a new circuit and a highly anticipated Hungarian round.
The GB3 Championship resumes at the Hungaroring on 4/5 July, where Molnar will aim to turn home support into another strong result.
