Campos Racing left the F2 2026 Monaco GP weekend with renewed momentum after Nikola Tsolov returned to winning ways, Noel León showed strong pace, and the team underlined its confidence ahead of its home round.
After two difficult weekends in Miami and Canada, the result marked an important response for Tsolov and Campos. The team had already felt a win was possible in Canada, but this time it converted its pace into a result.
With Tsolov holding firm under pressure and León proving competitive across the weekend, Adrián Campos believed the team had plenty to build on before a busy run of races.
Campos hails Tsolov redemption after strong weekend at 2026 F2 Monaco GP
Campos praised Tsolov’s response after a difficult run of races, as the Campos Racing driver returned to winning ways and underlined the team’s pace in Monte Carlo.
The Spainiard felt the result marked an important turnaround after challenging weekends in Miami and Canada. He believed the team had already shown winning potential in Canada, where Tsolov had been in control before strategy and traffic complicated his race.
This time, Campos Racing converted its speed into results. Tsolov delivered when it mattered, while the team gave him the tools to fight at the front across the weekend. Campos said the result gave the team fresh motivation ahead of a busy run of events, with several race weekends now coming in quick succession.
“It’s the redemption that we were looking for coming from two difficult weekends for Nikola in Miami and Canada. In Canada we also deserved to win the race.”
“We were virtually leading until we started having some issues with the cars that were in the opposite strategy. But still we saw again that we are very competitive, if everything goes well, we fight for the win. Nikola [Tsolov] is extremely strong now.”
“We are all very motivated to try to give the drivers the tools that they need to win, and that’s what they did today and yesterday. So, I can’t ask anymore, to be honest. Let’s see if we can keep it up for the next events, and now we have a lot of events in a row.”
Campos endured a nervous finish
The final stages were far from comfortable for Campos on the pit wall during the 2026 F2 Monaco GP Feature Race. Tsolov came under pressure on cold tyres, and the team knew Rafa Câmara was closing in.
Campos said the key was to force Câmara into a mistake rather than invite unnecessary risk. For a brief moment, he feared there had been contact between Câmara and Tsolov, but the Bulgarian quickly confirmed that the car felt fine.
From there, Campos Racing focused on managing the gap and bringing the car home. Tsolov kept a safe rhythm, stayed clear of Alex Dunne behind, and avoided mistakes in the closing laps.
The fastest lap remained a bonus rather than a priority, with the victory always the main target.
“I was having a heart attack. It’s not that I was nervous, it’s that I was almost dying. We saw him struggling with the cold tyres, so we told Nikola that he was going to catch him.”
“But the key was pushing him to make a mistake, and this is what happened. To be honest, at one point I thought that Rafa [Câmara] hit Nikola [Tsolov], so maybe we had some damage, but it was not the case.”
“He suddenly said the car is okay and from there on, we just put in some safe pace, quick enough to be safe from Dunne behind, and that was the race at the end. No mistakes. If we could have the fastest lap, it was okay. If not, no problem.”
León’s pace gives Campos more reason for optimism
Campos also highlighted León’s strong weekend, despite feeling the Mexican driver could have achieved even more. León had claimed victory the day before, but Campos believed his qualifying pace had deserved a stronger starting position. A small mistake against the wall prevented him from fighting nearer the front, which changed the shape of his weekend.
Even so, Campos felt León had shown enough speed to be in the podium fight. His performance added to the team’s confidence, especially with both drivers showing strong form.
“They are performing very, very well. It’s good that Noel [León] won yesterday, but to be honest, he shouldn’t have won yesterday because he should have been starting further in the front.”
“He deserved to be fighting for pole on Friday. He showed the pace, and a small mistake touching the wall prevented him from being at least in the two front rows today.”
“So that would have meant that yesterday he would have started a bit further in the back. But today he would have been fighting for the podium because he has shown a lot of speed during this weekend.”
Focus turns to the team’s home race
Campos now turns his attention to the team’s home race weekend, where expectations will be high.
The Spanish outfit won there last year with Arvid Lindblad, and Campos saw no reason why the team could not fight for another strong result this season.
With Tsolov in form and León also showing competitive pace, Campos believed the team had every reason to feel confident. He admitted anything could happen, but expected Campos Racing to be strong once again.
“I feel excited. Now we have a home race weekend where we won last year with Arvid [Lindblad]. Why can’t repeat it this year. I think the team is motivated to do so.”
“Nikola [Tsolov] is doing good, Noel [León] is also doing very good, and anything can happen. But for sure we will be strong.”
