Gabriele Minì extended his 2026 F2 Drivers’ Championship lead to three points after finishing second in the Barcelona Sprint Race.
Kush Maini converted reverse-grid pole into a commanding victory and climbed to eighth in the standings, while Nikola Tsolov completed the podium and remained firmly within reach of Minì. Meanwhile, Campos Racing extended its advantage over Rodin Motorsport in the Teams’ Championship.
Minì extends his Championship lead
Minì entered the Barcelona weekend with a one-point advantage over Tsolov following the Monaco Feature Race.
The MP Motorsport driver started the Sprint Race from fifth and moved forward during the opening stages. After passing Colton Herta and Noel León, he joined Tsolov in the battle for second behind Maini.
Minì eventually overtook the Bulgarian and crossed the line second. The result added eight points to his total and moved him onto 71 points.
Tsolov finished third and collected six points, taking his Championship total to 68. Therefore, Minì increased his advantage from one point to three before Sunday’s Feature Race.
León moves into third after another points finish
León retained his place among the leading Championship contenders after finishing fourth.
The Campos Racing driver started on the front row but lost positions as Tsolov, Minì and Herta applied pressure. Nevertheless, Herta’s late lock-up allowed León to recover fourth and collect five points.
León consequently moved onto 50 points and climbed to third in the Drivers’ Championship. He now trails team-mate Tsolov by 18 points and sits one point ahead of Alex Dunne.
Dunne and Stenshorne slip behind León
Dunne entered the Sprint Race level with Martinius Stenshorne on 48 points, although Stenshorne held third in the standings on countback.
However, both Rodin Motorsport drivers endured difficult races.
Dunne recovered to eighth and claimed the final point, which moved him onto 49 points. As a result, he passed Stenshorne and took fourth in the Championship.
Stenshorne, meanwhile, received a 10-second penalty for causing a collision with Joshua Dürksen. He finished 18th after the Stewards applied the sanction and failed to add to his 48-point total.
Consequently, Stenshorne dropped from third to fifth, one point behind Dunne and two behind León.
Beganovic closes on the Rodin pair
Dino Beganovic added two points with seventh place for DAMS Lucas Oil.
The Swede moved onto 45 points and remained sixth in the standings. However, he reduced his deficit to Stenshorne to three points and now sits only four behind Dunne.
Rafael Câmara followed in seventh overall after collecting three points for sixth place. The Invicta Racing driver increased his total to 42, leaving him three points behind Beganovic.
Maini makes the largest gain with Barcelona victory
Maini produced the most significant movement inside the top 10 after dominating the Sprint Race from pole.
The Indian driver controlled the start and gradually built a sizeable advantage. Although tyre degradation briefly allowed Tsolov to reduce the gap, Maini responded and eventually won by more than seven seconds.
The victory earned him 10 points, while the fastest lap added another point to his haul. He consequently moved from outside the leading group to eighth in the standings with 39 points.
Maini now trails Câmara by three points and Beganovic by six. Furthermore, his result moved him six points clear of Laurens van Hoepen, who failed to score in Barcelona.
Herta moves level with Montoya
Herta looked set to finish on the podium after passing León and Tsolov during the closing stages.
However, the Hitech driver locked up on the final lap and ran wide, which dropped him behind Tsolov and León. He ultimately finished fifth and added four points to his Championship total.
Herta moved onto 20 points, drawing level with Sebastián Montoya. The PREMA Racing driver finished 10th and missed out on points.
Montoya retained 12th place on countback, while Herta remained 13th.
Inthraphuvasak misses points despite top-10 finish
Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak crossed the line ninth but failed to score because the Sprint Race only awarded points to the leading eight finishers.
The ART Grand Prix driver therefore remained on 13 points in 15th place.
Nicolás Varrone initially finished inside the top 10 but received a five-second penalty for leaving the circuit and gaining an advantage during his battle with Montoya. The sanction dropped him to 12th, although he remained 14th in the Championship on 14 points.
