The 2026 Formula E season overtakes its halfway point, as drivers get ready to take on FP1 in Sanya. Following the Monaco E-Prix double header, Mitch Evans leads the standings from reigning champion Rowland and veteran Mortara.

It’s only the second race ever at https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/news/1071920/preview-formula-e-heads-back-to-sanya-for-round-11the Chinese town, with Jean-Eric Vergne taking up the top spot in its only previous iteration back in 2019.

Early FP1 session leader was Cupra Kiro’s Dan Ticktum, following the reception of the second reprimand of his season, who sat ahead of the Andretti driver duo.

Norman Nato caused the first yellow flag of the day, making contact with the wall after going long at the hairpin.

A red flag was issued shortly after, as Buemi’s Envision stopped on track. Session resumed with around 12 minutes left on the clock. Mortara set the fastest lap on his first fast lap attempt.

Barnard collided a little with the wall as well, while Rowland lamented the prolonged works on his car.
