Joshua Dürksen believes victory is possible at Spa-Francorchamps as he looks to revive his 2026 Formula 2 (F2) season with Invicta Racing, during the Belgian GP weekend.

The Paraguayan driver heads into Round 8 aiming to return to the form he showed at the opening round in Melbourne, where he won the Sprint Race. Since then, however, Dürksen has not returned to the podium, with fourth in the Monte Carlo Sprint marking his best result across the following six rounds.

Dürksen excited by “amazing” Spa challenge

The Belgian GP gives Dürksen a chance to reset at one of the most demanding circuits on the F2 calendar.

The 22-year-old said he feels excited to race at the Belgian venue because of its high-speed layout and history, describing Spa as an “amazing track” ahead of the weekend.

For Dürksen, the challenge will begin in qualifying. Spa’s long lap means one mistake can carry a heavy cost, especially because poor exits can compromise speed all the way down the circuit’s long straights.

He explained that a clean lap will be crucial because the circuit is almost seven kilometres long and has several corners where drivers can lose momentum. At Spa, a small error does not stay isolated to one part of the lap. It can follow a driver down the next straight and cost even more time before the next braking zone.

Invicta Racing searching for complete weekend

Dürksen has shown flashes of pace since his Melbourne win, but he believes execution has held him and Invicta back.

He admitted the start of the season has been unfortunate, but said the pace has been stronger than the results suggest. The target now is to put the pieces together across qualifying and both races rather than leave points behind.

That makes Spa an important opportunity. Dürksen does not appear to lack confidence in the package. Instead, he wants a weekend where Invicta converts its speed into the kind of result he feels has been possible in recent rounds.

Mixed weather could add another layer

The Belgian GP weekend could also bring changing conditions, with rain and sunshine both possible across the three days of running.

However, Dürksen is not treating the weather as a concern. He said both wet and dry conditions can make racing exciting, leaving his main focus on maximising his own performance rather than worrying about the forecast.

That approach could prove important at Spa, where weather can change quickly across the long lap and punish drivers who fail to adapt.

Dürksen believes victory at F2 Belgian GP is possible

After a frustrating run since Melbourne, Dürksen remains convinced that he and Invicta have the pace to fight at the front.

He said he knows the potential and speed are there, but the team must “package it all together” across qualifying and the races. If they manage that, Dürksen believes he can return to the top step at Spa.

For a driver who started the season with victory, the Belgian round offers more than another chance to score points. It offers a chance to prove that Melbourne was not a one-off, and that Dürksen’s season can still gather momentum at one of Formula 2’s most historic venues.
