Edu Robinson will make his GB3 Championship debut with Elite Motorsport at Silverstone after securing a late opportunity to join the 2026 grid.
The Spanish-British driver arrives in GB3 during his strongest single-seater season to date, having already claimed a victory, four pole positions and two further podiums in the Italian F4 Championship.
Robinson also brings previous experience of Elite’s GB3 machinery after completing much of the championship’s pre-season testing programme.
Robinson relishes return to faster machinery
The 17-year-old has spent the 2026 season competing in Italian F4, where he claimed victory at Vallelunga and established himself as a regular frontrunner.
However, Silverstone will give Robinson his first chance to race machinery at Formula Regional level since his 2025 FRECA campaign.
“I haven’t driven a quick car since the winter testing and this is my first race in a F3 regional-level championship since last year in FRECA, so I’m very excited,” he commented, while speaking to GB3. “Obviously I’ve come from F4 this year and I’ve been doing pretty good, so we have not high expectations, but I’d be really happy if I could get a good top 10 result.”
Despite the late nature of the opportunity, Robinson enters the weekend with a clear objective as he aims to challenge inside the top 10.
Italian F4 success strengthens preparation
Robinson believes his progress in Italian F4 has prepared him well for the demands of GB3.
He has demonstrated strong qualifying speed throughout the season, while his victory and podium finishes have given him further experience of racing at the front of a competitive field.
Robinson placed 17th during Thursday testing at Silverstone and immediately ran among the midfield contenders.
“Italian F4 is very competitive and it’s one of the hardest F4 series out there right now. I think it’s prepared me really well and I’m already up to speed almost today, especially during the high speed corners.
“So I think speed will not be the biggest problem, but I think it’s now just getting used to fighting against bigger cars and more experienced drivers, which will be the trickier thing, but I think it should be good.”
Although Robinson feels comfortable with the speed of the GB3 car, he expects the size of the machinery and the experience of his rivals to provide the greater challenge.
Winter programme eases GB3 transition
Robinson completed extensive GB3 testing with Elite during the winter, allowing him to familiarise himself with the Tatuus MSV GB3-025 before his debut.
That experience helped him settle quickly when he returned to the car at Silverstone, despite several months away from the machinery.
“I did the winter testing with the GB3 car, and I feel I’m already almost up to speed, so I think that’s definitely helped massively. It’s obviously my first time back in the car since the winter testing, but if I could get a top-10 result this weekend, I’d be very happy with that.”
Robinson will now attempt to translate that preparation into a strong race weekend as he makes the step from F4 to GB3 competition.
Silverstone offers valuable opportunity
The Silverstone appearance gives Robinson the chance to test himself against a larger field and more experienced drivers at one of the championship’s fastest circuits.
Elite will also benefit from the additional data and feedback as Robinson joins its regular line-up for the weekend.
With his Italian F4 campaign already delivering his best results in single-seaters, Robinson will aim to continue that progress and secure a competitive result on his GB3 debut.
