Lucas Fluxa led an Xcel Motorsport one-two as preparations for this weekend’s 2026 GB3 Championship round began at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit with the Thursday test sessions

The Spaniard recorded a 1m50.358s lap during the second of the day’s three sessions. His time placed him 0.326s ahead of teammate Rowan Campbell-Pilling, while championship leader Nikita Bedrin completed the top three.

Fluxa takes control in second session

Fluxa produced the fastest lap of the day during Thursday’s second session to put Xcel Motorsport at the top of the combined classification.

Campbell-Pilling had moved into first place late in the session, but Fluxa responded and beat the British driver by more than three tenths of a second.

The result gave Xcel the top two positions at the end of the opening day, with Fluxa’s 1m50.358s benchmark placing him 0.716s ahead of Bedrin.

Campbell-Pilling completes Xcel one-two

Campbell-Pilling continued his strong Silverstone form by securing second place overall with his quickest lap from Session 2.

The Sheffield native finished 0.326s behind Fluxa but held a comfortable 0.390s advantage over Bedrin in third.

Campbell-Pilling had also briefly led the session before his teammate moved ahead, underlining Xcel’s pace during the afternoon running.

Rehm and Bedrin set session benchmarks

Although Fluxa claimed the overall lead, Maxim Rehm and Bedrin topped the other two sessions.

Rehm set the pace during the slower opening session for Rodin Motorsport. His best lap from later in the day ultimately placed him fourth in the combined order, only 0.017s behind Bedrin.

Meanwhile, Bedrin led the final session for VRD Racing. The championship leader’s quickest lap from Session 2 remained his best of the day and placed him third overall.

Pulling and Micallef complete top six

Abbi Pulling gave Rodin Motorsport a second car inside the top five after showing consistent pace across all three sessions.

Pulling placed fifth in the opening two sessions before improving to fourth during the final test. Her best lap put her 0.886s behind Fluxa in the combined classification.

Jacob Micallef completed the top six for Hitech during his first visit to Silverstone. He finished 0.138s behind Pulling and held a 0.043s advantage over Rodin’s Martin Molnar.

Tight margins shape top-10 battle

Molnar claimed seventh overall and joined Fairclough as one of only two drivers to record their fastest laps during Session 3.

VRD Racing’s Patricio Gonzalez followed in eighth, only 0.002s behind Molnar. He also finished 0.056s ahead of Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough, who took ninth after improving during the final session.

Flynn Jackes completed the top 10 for Elite Motorsport. Only 1.262s separated Fluxa from Jackes at the end of the three sessions.

Elite teammate Kyuho Lee narrowly missed the top 10 in 11th, while Hillspeed’s Dante Vinci and VRD’s Rodrigo Gonzalez followed in 12th and 13th.

New drivers join 24-car Silverstone field

A total of 24 cars took to the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit during Thursday’s running.

Series newcomer Edu Robinson recorded the 17th-fastest time for Elite Motorsport, finishing 1.664s behind Fluxa.

Arden Motorsport also entered an additional car for an unnamed driver, while VRD Racing gave Indonesian racer Nadeem Rustombi an opportunity in its fourth car. Rustombi finished 22nd in the combined order.

The GB3 test car also joined the field with Zak Taylor behind the wheel.

Testing continues at Silverstone on Friday with three more sessions ahead of the race weekend.
