Andretti Formula E heads to the 2026 Hankook London E-Prix with Jake Dennis leading the Drivers’ Championship and the team carrying significant momentum into the final weekend of Season 12.
The British capital will host Rounds 16 and 17 at the 2.077km, 20-turn ExCeL Circuit, where Formula E will also bring the GEN3 era to a close. The unique indoor-outdoor layout combines contrasting surfaces, changing grip levels and a technical configuration that demands precision and adaptability.
Andretti enters London third in the Teams’ Championship after scoring 113 points across the five-race Asian leg, nearly twice as many as any other team. Dennis leads the Drivers’ standings with 146 points, while Felipe Drugovich heads the Rookie of the Season battle and sits 11th overall on 65 points.
Dennis returns to scene of first Formula E title
Andretti’s Dennis arrives at his home event with an opportunity to secure his second Formula E Drivers’ World Championship at the same venue where he claimed his first crown in 2023.
London has consistently produced some of the Briton’s strongest performances. He has scored 128 championship points at the ExCeL Circuit, more than any other driver in the event’s history.
Dennis has also claimed two victories, two pole positions, four front-row starts, five podiums and three fastest laps at the circuit. He therefore recognises the significance of returning to London with the championship lead.
“You couldn’t really script it any better. To come back to London leading the Championship, with the opportunity to fight for a second world title at the same circuit where I won my first, makes this a pretty special weekend. London has always been a track I’ve loved racing at, and the home support gives you that little bit extra, but I know there’s still a job to do.”
Despite his strong record at the venue, Dennis remains focused on executing another clean weekend rather than relying on past success.
Late-season momentum strengthens Dennis’ 2026 Formula E title challenge
Dennis has built his championship lead through an impressive run across Formula E’s Asian leg. The Andretti driver scored 80 points across the last five races, 29 more than any other competitor during that period. That form has placed Dennis in control of his own championship destiny heading into the final double-header.
However, he does not plan to alter the approach that helped him move to the top of the standings.
“We’ve built some great momentum over the last five races and put ourselves in this position through hard work and consistency. That said, nothing changes in our approach this weekend. We have to execute, stay focused and score as many points as possible. If we do that, hopefully we can give everyone at Andretti and the home fans something to celebrate.”
Dennis also owns several notable London records. He remains the only Formula E driver to win his first home E-Prix and the only competitor to win twice on home soil. In Season 8, he also led every lap of the opening London race after starting from pole.
Now, the circuit offers him an opportunity to add a second world championship to that record.
Andretti carries strongest recent Formula E form into 2026 London E-Prix
Andretti has transformed its championship position during the closing stages of Season 12. The American team scored 113 points across the five-race Asian stretch, more than any other outfit. It also claimed a pole position and a points-scoring finish at every race weekend during that run.
Moreover, Andretti has secured four pole positions this season, its highest total in a single Formula E campaign.
Team Principal Roger Griffiths believes the squad has responded particularly well as the pressure has increased.
“The turnaround in performance from the team beginning in the Asia stretch of the season has been quite remarkable, though not unexpected. Historically, we have always performed better in hot and humid conditions and while we have that on our side, repeating this over the recent weeks is a great endorsement of the entire team, especially when you consider the remarkable rebuild of Drugovich’s car in Tokyo. It seems that the more pressure the team is put under, the better our response.”
Andretti’s recent form has lifted the team to third in the championship on 211 points and created an opportunity to end the GEN3 era with major silverware.
Griffiths sees growing determination from Dennis
While Andretti’s collective improvement has played an important role in the title fight, Griffiths has also noticed an increased intensity from Dennis as his championship challenge has strengthened.
Dennis won his first Formula E world title at ExCeL in 2023. A second championship would place him among a small group of multiple Formula E title winners.
Griffiths believes that opportunity has sharpened Dennis’ focus.
“Heading into London, Jake has the opportunity to claim a second Drivers’ title. For him to join that elite club of two-time World Champions would be a remarkable feat. There are very few that can claim that accolade, and to do it in front of his home crowd would be just amazing. I have seen his desire and intensity increase as the results have come, staying later at the track, working more closely with the engineering team, questioning and challenging each decision. You can tell that he really wants this.”
Dennis now has two races to convert that preparation into the championship result Andretti wants. However, the ExCeL Circuit will demand precision throughout qualifying and both races.
ExCeL layout places extra emphasis on qualifying
London presents Andretti with a challenge unlike any other circuit on the 2026 Formula E calendar. The 20-turn track runs both inside and outside the ExCeL exhibition centre, creating changes in surface, temperature and grip as drivers move between the two environments.
Its narrow and technical layout can also make overtaking difficult. As a result, Griffiths expects qualifying to play an especially important role.
“Although London presents a unique challenge with its indoor-outdoor layout, our approach will be the same as every other weekend. It’s crucial we hit the ground running to be in the right setup window, run cleanly in each session and simply build on the performance run by run.”
Andretti has enjoyed considerable qualifying success at the circuit. Its drivers have won nine Qualifying Duels in London, more than at any other Formula E venue, with Dennis accounting for eight.
Therefore, another strong qualifying performance could provide a crucial advantage during the championship-deciding weekend.
Andretti targets clean execution at technical London circuit for Formula E Season 12 finale
Although Andretti enters London with significant momentum, Griffiths does not expect the team to change its fundamental approach. Instead, he wants the squad to maximise every session and avoid unnecessary setbacks.
The characteristics of the ExCeL Circuit make that execution particularly important.
“Qualifying will be more important than other tracks due to the tight and twisty nature of the track. Passing is not as straightforward at the ExCeL, even in the energy-limited races. We need to ensure our preparation remains focused, and hopefully we can deliver another strong weekend to end this chapter of the GEN3 era on a high in the same fashion that we began it with.”
Round 16 will run for 38 laps and feature PIT BOOST, while Sunday’s Round 17 will consist of 35 laps.
Andretti has already scored points in nine of the 10 Formula E races held at the venue. The team has also recorded three fastest laps in London, more than any other outfit. That record gives Andretti a strong foundation, although the team must deliver again when championship pressure reaches its peak.
Drugovich leads Rookie of the Season fight into Formula E London finale
Dennis will not carry Andretti’s only individual objective into London. Drugovich leads the Rookie of the Season battle with 65 points, three ahead of Pepe Martí and 10 clear of Joel Eriksson.
The Brazilian also sits 11th in the Drivers’ Championship and wants to break into the top 10 before the season ends.
London will mark Drugovich’s 17th start for Andretti, making him the sixth-most experienced Formula E driver in the team’s history.
“The Asian stretch of the season has felt very long, so it’s nice to have had some time at home to reset and recharge ahead of London. I’ve not driven the ExCeL circuit, but it looks like a lot of fun to tackle.”
Unlike Dennis, Drugovich does not have extensive previous experience of the venue to draw upon.
Nevertheless, he arrives after contributing to Andretti’s impressive late-season resurgence and has several opportunities to influence the team’s final championship position.
Drugovich aims to support Andretti’s championship push
Drugovich’s objectives extend beyond his own Rookie of the Season battle. Andretti remains third in the Teams’ Championship, while Dennis needs every available point as he pursues the Drivers’ title.
Therefore, Drugovich wants to strengthen his own championship position while also supporting the wider team effort.
“Obviously, it’s a big weekend for the team with Jake fighting for the Championship, which is very cool, and we’re also fighting for a top-three finish in the Teams’ standings. It would be amazing for us to wrap up our season with success in both Championships, and I’ll be trying my best to help the team with the points, trying to get myself into the top 10, as well as trying to help Jake. We’ve got the momentum behind us, so hopefully we can finish the year on a high.”
Porsche Motorsport also enters the finale leading the Manufacturers’ Championship with 448 points, giving strong performances from both Andretti drivers additional significance.
As a result, the team enters London fighting on several fronts.
Andretti targets successful end to GEN3 era
Formula E will close both Season 12 and the GEN3 era when the chequered flag falls on Sunday. Andretti enters that final weekend with much more at stake than simply completing another campaign.
Dennis can become a two-time Formula E World Champion at the circuit where he secured his first title. Meanwhile, Drugovich can complete his first full season by claiming Rookie of the Season honours and potentially breaking into the championship’s top 10.
Andretti also wants to protect or improve its third position in the Teams’ Championship after producing the strongest points-scoring run of any squad across the Asian leg.
The team’s late-season resurgence has created those opportunities. Now, the narrow and technical ExCeL Circuit will test whether Andretti can convert momentum into silverware.
With Dennis leading the championship, Drugovich heading the rookie battle and several titles still in play, London gives Andretti one final opportunity to close the GEN3 era at its strongest.
