Nissan Formula E Team has announced that Zane Maloney will drive alongside Season 11 World Champion Oliver Rowland for the 2026/27 season as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship enters its new GEN4 era.
The new lineup marks a significant change for the Japanese manufacturer, with Norman Nato departing the team after two seasons. Maloney and Rowland will begin their preparation for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign at Pre-Season Testing at Circuito del Jarama in Spain from November 16-20, as Nissan prepares to enter a new era of Formula E.
From Lola Yamaha ABT to Nissan
Zane Maloney joins Nissan Formula E Team to mark the start of his third season in the all-electric series. The Barbadian driver entered Formula E in Season 11 after showing great promise in his junior career.
Maloney finished the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship as both a runner-up and the FIA Rookie of the Year, before being promoted to FIA Formula 2. Driving in the F2 championship in 2023 and 2025, Maloney secured a total of 11 podiums, including two wins, while finishing P4 in the 2025 Drivers’ Standings. In the meantime, the 22-year-old also served as a reserve and development driver for the Andretti team, gaining crucial Formula E experience before taking on a full-time seat with Lola Yamaha ABT.
While his first two seasons in Formula E proved challenging, Maloney managed to score top-ten finishes in São Paulo, Monaco, and Tokyo in 2025/26. Now, the Nissan Formula E Team believes that his knowledge and proven F2 pace will provide a strong foundation as he enters GEN4.
Maloney on joining the successful team
Speaking about his move to Nissan Formula E Team, Maloney shared: “I’m very excited to join Nissan Formula E Team. When I came into Formula E, the team was winning the championship with Oli, so it’s a great chance for me to now join a top manufacturer.”
“I’ve spent the last two seasons with a new team, developing my skills and trying to get the best results we could, so I’m really looking forward to taking this next step in my career. It’s also a great opportunity to be teammates with Oli. He’s a World Champion and someone I watched when I was growing up, first winning races in Formula 2 and then in Formula E, so to be alongside him and learn from him will be really valuable.”
He added: “GEN4 is a big opportunity for everyone to develop quickly, and I’ll be doing everything I can to prepare well and hit the ground running from the first race. A big thank you to Nissan Formula E Team for the trust in me. I’m really looking forward to getting started and achieving some very good results together.”
Rowland continues his journey with Nissan
On the other side of the garage, Oliver Rowland will continue with Nissan Formula E Team for a fourth consecutive campaign as part of his multi-year agreement.
The Brit first joined forces with the Japanese manufacturer in Season 5, driving for Nissan throughout Seasons 5, 6, and 7, before moving to Mahindra Racing. Rowland returned to Nissan ahead of Season 10, finishing the campaign P4 in the Drivers’ Standings before securing the Drivers’ title in 2024/25. While Rowland was unable to defend his title in Season 12, finishing P4 in the standings, the Nissan driver managed to claim six podiums, including one victory in Monaco.

Reflecting on the 2026/27 lineup, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, Tommaso Volpe said:
“We’re delighted to confirm Oliver and Zane as our driver line-up for Season 13. Oli has been an important part of our Formula E journey, having joined the team as a rookie back in Season 5.
