Practice 2 at the final round of the 2026 IndyCar season has been completed at Laguna Seca, view the full session report here.

On Friday in the first session, Alex Palou was fastest once again, pacing Felix Rosenqvist and double Milwaukee winner Pato O’Ward.

There was a delay in it starting as a massive crash occurred at the Corkscrew in the Porsche Challenge. A significant amount of fencing had to be fixed. The session was reduced to 25 minutes with full field running.

A 1:11.981 from Mick Schumacher saw the German lead early doors from Felix Rosenqvist and Romain Grosjean, before Alex Palou responded with a 1:11.013 to go top.

One of the best drivers in 2026, Rinus VeeKay jumped to P1 as a 1:10.763 was very quick out of the blocks. Palou, O’Ward, Collet and Kirkwood completed the top 5.

More drivers took turns in P1. Alex Rossi initially went top on a 1:10.658, before David Malukas responded soon after with a 1:10.575. Christian Lundgaard jumped up to P3 in the McLaren.

Into the final five minutes and Alex Palou found his way back to P1 as a 1:10.557 narrowly put him in front of Malukas. Will Power and Scott McLaughlin moved themselves into 3rd and 4th as the last couple of laps were starting.

The #3 eventually ended up at the top as a 1:10.301 put Team Penske fastest ahead of qualifying, 0.2s ahead of Rosenqvist, Palou, Malukas, Power and Schumacher. Kirkwood, Rossi, Lundgaard and Siegel rounded out the top 10.
