Diego de la Torre and Rui-Heng Yeh shared the victories as the 2026 Euroformula Open season reached its seventh and penultimate round at Monza, where Team Motopark ultimately celebrated both three race wins and Yeh’s Drivers’ Championship title.
Jesse Carrasquedo set the early pace by topping Friday’s combined Free Practice classification before taking pole position in a remarkably tight Qualifying session. However, both Carrasquedo and de la Torre stalled from the front row at the start of Race 1, opening the door for a constantly changing battle that eventually ended with de la Torre recovering to take his third win of the season.
De la Torre repeated the feat in Race 2, overcoming another lower starting position to beat championship leader Yeh after a lengthy fight between the leading group. That reduced Yeh’s championship advantage to 59 points before the final contest, but the Taipei driver responded in Race 3 by beating Carrasquedo and Wiktor Dobrzański to secure his eighth victory of the year and wrap up the title with one round remaining.
Yeh therefore leaves Monza on 379 points, 84 clear of de la Torre. Carrasquedo remains third on 256, while the absent Everett Stack holds fourth on 211. Javier Herrera’s Rookie Championship advantage has also fallen from seven points after the previous round at Hockenheim to only two over Dobrzański, while Team Motopark extends its Teams’ Championship lead to 115 points.
2026 Euroformula Open: Round 7: Monza: Free Practice
Monza welcomed the Euroformula Open field with dry and warm late-summer conditions on Friday, with 11 cars taking part after several changes to the line-up seen at Hockenheim. Aaron Ferrazzano returned with Neri Autosport, while BVM Racing handed 16-year-old Nicolò Maccagnani his championship debut. Niels Koolen also joined Team Motopark for his first Euroformula Open appearance.
Alessandro Famularo led the opening Free Practice session for BVM Racing with a 1:42.376. Ferrazzano immediately impressed on his return by taking second, 0.242s behind, while Maccagnani began his debut weekend in third. De la Torre followed in fourth ahead of Herrera, while Carrasquedo and championship leader Yeh sat only 10th and 11th respectively after the morning running.
The order changed significantly during Free Practice 2. Carrasquedo lowered the benchmark to 1:42.220 and moved to the head of the combined Friday classification. Yeh finished only 0.129s behind, with de la Torre another 0.013s away in third. Herrera took fourth in the session, while Famularo’s morning time left him fourth overall and Ferrazzano ended Friday as the leading Rookie in fifth on the combined order.

2026 Euroformula Open: Round 7: Monza: Qualifying
Carrasquedo carried his Friday pace into Saturday morning and emerged on top of an exceptionally close Qualifying battle. Slipstreaming played a major role around Monza, and several drivers briefly occupied provisional pole as the session entered its final minutes.
De la Torre and Yeh both moved to the top during the closing stages, but Carrasquedo produced a 1:41.836 on his final attempt to secure pole. Only 0.023s separated him from de la Torre, while Yeh completed an all-Motopark top three only 0.032s away from his teammate.
Maccagnani delivered an impressive performance on his first Euroformula Open weekend by qualifying fourth and leading BVM Racing’s challenge. He finished only 0.193s from pole, with Famularo another 0.014s behind in fifth and Herrera sixth. Koolen took seventh ahead of Dobrzański, while Koller, Castillo and Ferrazzano completed the order after a gearbox problem compromised the returning Belgian’s session.

Carrasquedo’s Monza pole-position report
2026 Euroformula Open: Round 7: Monza: Race 1
The advantage Carrasquedo and de la Torre earned in Qualifying disappeared almost immediately when both Mexicans stalled from the front row. Yeh swept into the lead ahead of Maccagnani, Herrera, Famularo and Koolen, while de la Torre and Carrasquedo found themselves having to recover through the field.
The opening lap also brought an early end to Dobrzański and Koller’s races after the pair collided at the Variante della Roggia. Officials sent out the Safety Car, and Yeh controlled the restart before locking his front wheels into the first chicane. Maccagnani seized the opportunity and moved ahead, briefly leading on his championship debut.
Monza’s slipstream prevented anyone from controlling the race for long. Yeh and Herrera both passed Maccagnani at the Roggia on Lap 6 before Herrera moved ahead of Yeh and took the lead. Famularo also joined the increasingly compressed front group, while de la Torre continued his recovery from the stalled start.
De la Torre eventually reached Herrera and the two Mexicans fought directly for victory, including light contact during their battle. The Motopark driver ultimately prevailed to claim his second consecutive victory after his wet-weather success at Hockenheim and his third win of the season. Herrera finished just 0.187s behind and claimed the Rookie Trophy, while Famularo completed the podium another 0.561s back.
Maccagnani completed an impressive first race in fourth ahead of Koolen, while Yeh slipped to sixth after leading the opening stages. Castillo finished seventh, Carrasquedo recovered to eighth after his stalled start and Ferrazzano completed the classified runners in ninth. Only 5.651s separated the top nine at the chequered flag, while the leading six finished within 2.864s of de la Torre.
De la Torre also recorded the fastest lap with a 1:42.552 on Lap 9, adding another point to his championship haul.

2026 Euroformula Open: Round 7: Monza: Race 2
Race 2 produced another close fight at the front, but de la Torre once again emerged victorious despite starting sixth on the reversed grid.
Yeh started from pole alongside Koolen, but the Dutchman stalled as the lights went out. Yeh retained the lead ahead of Maccagnani, while de la Torre immediately began working his way forward and moved into third as the opening laps developed.
Maccagnani refused to allow the championship leader to escape. The BVM Racing Rookie and Yeh exchanged first place as de la Torre closed onto the pair, creating a three-driver fight that Herrera also joined. At the beginning of Lap 6, the four went almost side-by-side into the first chicane before Herrera later spun at Lesmo and forced officials to deploy the Safety Car.
De la Torre led Yeh, Maccagnani and Famularo when racing resumed on Lap 10. Yeh continued attacking his title rival and the pair exchanged the lead more than once, but de la Torre eventually established enough control to remain ahead. Yeh mounted one final challenge during the last lap, even placing wheels on the grass while trying to draw alongside, but de la Torre held firm to take his fourth victory of the season and complete a Saturday double.
Maccagnani inherited third after Ferrazzano’s promising race unravelled with a brake problem at Lesmo on the penultimate lap. The Italian therefore secured his maiden outright podium and Rookie Trophy victory on his debut weekend. Castillo produced his best overall result of the season in fourth, while Carrasquedo recovered to fifth ahead of Dobrzański.
Koolen finished seventh after his difficult start, Koller took eighth and Ferrazzano reached the chequered flag in ninth. Famularo stopped after 10 laps with a technical problem, while Herrera completed only five.
De la Torre again claimed the fastest lap, setting a 1:42.943 on Lap 3. His two victories and two fastest laps earned 52 points across Saturday and reduced Yeh’s championship advantage from the 85 points he held after Hockenheim to 59 heading into Sunday’s finale.

2026 Euroformula Open: Round 7: Monza: Race 3
Yeh entered Race 3 knowing a strong result could settle the championship one round early, but Monza again refused to provide a straightforward race.
Herrera and Famularo occupied the front row, with Herrera retaining the advantage at the start while Maccagnani moved ahead of his BVM Racing teammate. De la Torre and Yeh quickly joined the fight, and the positions changed repeatedly as the slipstream kept the leading cars together.
Maccagnani’s promising debut weekend ended on Lap 6 when contact at the second chicane damaged a wheel and forced him out. Herrera remained at the centre of the lead battle, while Yeh, Carrasquedo and de la Torre continued to attack behind him. The field remained remarkably compressed, with all 10 remaining cars covered by only 1.3s during Lap 10.
Another decisive moment arrived on Lap 12 when Herrera and de la Torre made contact at the entrance to Ascari while fighting for third. De la Torre spun into the gravel and could not continue, while officials handed Herrera a 10-second penalty for causing the collision. The incident brought another Safety Car period and effectively ended de la Torre’s opportunity to delay Yeh’s championship celebrations.
Yeh attacked Carrasquedo after the restart and eventually took the lead. He kept his Motopark teammate behind through the closing laps and crossed the line only 0.339s ahead, claiming his eighth victory of the season and mathematically securing the 2026 Euroformula Open Drivers’ Championship before the Barcelona finale.
Dobrzański completed an all-Motopark podium and secured the Rookie Trophy win, finishing 1.044s behind Yeh. He also set the fastest lap with a 1:42.625 on the final tour, an important bonus in his increasingly close Rookie Championship battle with Herrera.
Famularo finished fourth ahead of Castillo and Koller, while Ferrazzano took seventh. Herrera crossed the line among the leading group but his 10-second penalty dropped him to eighth, with Koolen ninth and one lap behind. De la Torre and Maccagnani did not reach the classified finish.

2026 Euroformula Open: Standings after Round 7
Yeh arrived at Monza with 328 points and an 85-point advantage over de la Torre. Although the Mexican’s Saturday double temporarily cut that margin, Yeh still enjoyed a productive weekend of his own through sixth in Race 1, second in Race 2 and victory in Race 3. Those results add 51 points and take him to 379.
De la Torre scored even more heavily despite failing to finish the finale. His two victories and two fastest laps add 52 points, taking him from 243 to 295. However, the Race 3 retirement leaves him 84 behind Yeh, more than he can recover during the final round, confirming Yeh as champion.
Carrasquedo remains third after adding pole position, eighth in Race 1, fifth in Race 2 and second in Race 3. He moves from 221 to 256 points, 39 behind de la Torre. Stack remains fourth on 211 after missing his second consecutive round, while Famularo’s Race 1 podium and fourth in Race 3 lift him from 175 to 202, only nine behind the American.
Herrera reaches 189 in sixth, while Dobrzański moves to 158 after his Race 3 podium and fastest lap. Castillo climbs from 67 to 87, with Koller reaching 73. Ferrazzano’s return adds 10 points and takes him to 38, while Maccagnani and Koolen enter the championship standings on 27 and 20 respectively after their debut weekends.

Herrera’s Rookie lead falls to two points
The Rookie Championship tightened considerably at Monza, with Herrera’s seven-point advantage over Dobrzański after Hockenheim falling to just two.
Herrera began the weekend on 126 points and immediately strengthened his position by finishing second overall and taking the Rookie victory in Race 1. Race 2 brought a retirement, however, before the 10-second penalty in Race 3 dropped him to fifth among the Rookie runners. He consequently adds 13 points and reaches 139.
Dobrzański endured the opposite trajectory. His Race 1 ended through the opening-lap collision with Koller, but he recovered to sixth overall and second Rookie in Race 2. He then completed the outright podium in Race 3, taking the Rookie victory and fastest overall lap. His 18-point weekend takes him from 119 to 137 and leaves him only two points from Herrera before Barcelona.
Castillo strengthens third with 100 points after scoring in all three races, while Koller reaches 69 in fourth. Ferrazzano moves to 51 after his return weekend, while Maccagnani’s second and first in the opening two Rookie classifications give him 18 points immediately.

Motopark extends Teams’ Championship lead to 115 points
Team Motopark continued its control of the Teams’ Championship at Monza, although BVM Racing provided significant competition throughout the weekend.
De la Torre delivered Motopark’s maximum contribution in both Saturday races, while Yeh finished second in Race 2 before winning the finale. Carrasquedo’s Race 3 runner-up finish and Dobrzański’s third place completed another all-Motopark podium to conclude the weekend.
Those results take Motopark from 264 points after Hockenheim to 306. BVM Racing adds 28 and reaches 191 after Herrera and Famularo finished second and third in Race 1, Maccagnani took third in Race 2 and Famularo finished fourth in the finale.
DRIVEX remains third on 64 after missing Monza, while Neri Autosport adds 13 points through Ferrazzano and climbs from 38 to 51. Motopark therefore carries a 115-point advantage into the Barcelona finale.

Yeh seals title as de la Torre dominates Saturday
Monza produced a very different championship story across its two days of racing. De la Torre controlled the headline results on Saturday despite starting neither race from the ideal position, recovering from his Race 1 stall to win before charging from sixth to repeat the result in Race 2. Two fastest laps completed a 52-point Saturday and briefly reduced Yeh’s championship advantage.
Yeh nevertheless remained in control of the larger picture. After sixth and second in the opening two races, he responded when the championship opportunity arrived on Sunday. De la Torre’s collision with Herrera removed his nearest rival, but Yeh still had to pass Carrasquedo after the final restart before taking the victory that confirmed the title.
Carrasquedo also produced another strong weekend without converting his Friday and Saturday-morning pace into victory. He topped Free Practice, claimed pole by only 0.023s and ended the round with second place, while Maccagnani announced himself with fourth and third in his first two Euroformula Open races before his Race 3 retirement.
The Rookie Championship now provides the closest unresolved title battle. Herrera’s advantage over Dobrzański has fallen from 21 points after Paul Ricard, to seven after Hockenheim and only two following Monza. Castillo remains third but sits 37 points behind Dobrzański.
Yeh, meanwhile, heads to Barcelona as the confirmed 2026 Euroformula Open champion. His Monza victory takes him to eight wins and 379 points, while de la Torre and Carrasquedo will continue fighting over second place when the championship concludes at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from 23–25 October.
