Sri Lankan driver Yevan David has joined Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) for the 2027 Formula 3 (F3) season. It will be his second campaign in the category as he moves over from AIX Racing.
The 19-year-old showed flashes of strong potential in his rookie season this year. In the Silverstone Sprint Race back in July, he produced an absolutely heroic defensive drive to finish 2nd. It meant Ugo Ugochukwu won by a record-breaking margin. David also made history as the first Sri Lankan driver to stand on the podium in Formula 3 that day.
Yevan David will look to carry his late season form into the 2027 F3 season with VAR. He bagged two P4s across the Monza races, and the former AIX driver also scored a point at the new Madrid circuit at the final round.
The Euroformula Open runner-up from last year finished the 2026 season P18 in the standings on 35 points.
Yevan David on signing with VAR for 2027 F3 season
“Stepping into VAR for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 season feels like the right move at the right time.
“The leadership team has a clear vision, proven experience and a competitive mindset that matches how I want to operate.
“I’m excited to learn from them, contribute to that culture and test myself against the strongest field in junior single-seaters. The challenge is big, but so is the opportunity. I’m ready to work, grow and deliver everything I can throughout the 2027 season.”
Brad Joyce, Van Amersfoort Racing Team Principal
“We’re pleased to welcome Yevan to Van Amersfoort Racing. He showed great potential in his first FIA Formula 3 season, with a strong second-place finish in the Silverstone Sprint Race.
“Joining the VAR team will give him a new environment for his second year, and our aim is to turn that experience into great results. We’re looking forward to getting to know him and working with him during the post-season test. This will be a good opportunity to prepare for the 2027 season.”
