TJ Speed Motorsports will make its European racing debut at the 2026 GB3 Championship season finale in Barcelona, with 16-year-old German driver Arjen Kräling confirmed as the first member of its two-car line-up. The American-Australian outfit will compete at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 7–8 November, marking an important step in its international expansion.

The Indiana-based team, led by Australian engineer and Team Principal Tim Neff, has established a successful record in American junior single-seater racing since its formation in 2021. Its achievements include consecutive Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) titles and multiple victories in USF Pro 2000.

Barcelona will represent the organisation’s first competitive appearance in Europe, with the possibility of a full-time GB3 programme in 2027. For Kräling, the event will also mark his debut in the championship following experience across several Formula 4 categories. The German will be joined by a second driver, whose identity has yet to be announced.

TJ Speed Motorsports prepares for first European racing appearance

TJ Speed Motorsports’ decision to enter GB3 represents a significant development for an organisation that has primarily competed in North American single-seater championships.

Established in 2021, the team has already accumulated considerable success, including back-to-back FRAC Teams’ Championships in 2021 and 2022. Its Drivers’ Championship winners during those seasons included Kyffin Simpson and Raoul Hyman, demonstrating the team’s ability to develop young competitors progressing through the American racing ladder.

More recently, TJ Speed has expanded into USF Pro 2000, recording multiple victories and podium finishes while establishing itself as a competitive outfit within the Road to Indy structure.

The team also participated in the 2026 Formula Regional Oceania Trophy, working alongside HMD Motorsports to secure a race victory during the New Zealand championship.

Having established a presence across several junior racing categories, TJ Speed will now make its first competitive appearance in Europe, entering the GB3 Championship for the final round of the 2026 season.

The appearance will provide an opportunity to evaluate the championship’s sporting and technical environment before potentially committing to a full-time campaign next year.

Tim Neff welcomes opportunity to compete in GB3

Team Principal Tim Neff expressed his enthusiasm about the organisation’s move into European competition, highlighting the technical characteristics of GB3 and its reputation as an important category on the junior single-seater ladder.

Neff brings extensive motorsport experience to the programme, having worked with drivers including Jacques Villeneuve, Mark Blundell and James Hinchcliffe throughout a career spanning IndyCar, Indy Lights and Indy NXT.

His experience has also benefited current IndyCar competitors Simpson and Conor Daly, providing TJ Speed with leadership familiar with the demands of developing young drivers for higher categories.

The Australian believes the Barcelona appearance represents an opportunity to explore another championship while continuing the team’s international development.

“This is an intriguing opportunity for us to make an initial venture into European racing for the first time. We’ve heard great things about GB3 over the past few years, and we can see the series, car and technical package is exceptional.”

Neff’s comments reflect the team’s interest in GB3’s technical package, which features the Tatuus MSV GB3-025 introduced in 2025. The car received further upgrades for 2026, including a revised 2.4-litre Mountune engine, aerodynamic improvements and additional chassis development.

The championship’s position between Formula 4 and FIA Formula 3 has also made it an established development category, attracting drivers from a variety of national and international single-seater series.

Kräling confirmed as first driver for Barcelona

Kräling will lead TJ Speed Motorsport’s two-car entry, making his GB3 debut after gaining experience in British F4, Italian F4, E4 and GB4.

The 16-year-old from Winterberg began his single-seater career in 2025, initially competing in British F4 before expanding his programme to include other European championships.

His introduction to British F4 provided valuable experience against established competitors, while a subsequent GB4 appearance allowed him to gain additional single-seater mileage.

He continued his development in 2026 with US Racing, participating in the Formula Winter Series before embarking on campaigns in Italian F4 and E4.

One of his most significant achievements came in February, when he secured his maiden overall Formula Winter Series victory at Valencia. The result demonstrated his progress after his first season in Formula 4 machinery and provided encouragement ahead of his subsequent European commitments.

Kräling is also a member of Motorsport Team Germany and receives support from ADAC Stiftung Sport, which assists promising young German athletes in developing their careers.

His promotion to GB3 will represent his first competitive step into machinery above the Formula 4 level, providing another opportunity to develop his technical understanding and racecraft.

Kräling reflects on challenges and progress in Formula 4

Kräling welcomed the opportunity to make his GB3 debut, describing the move as a reward for the effort invested throughout his early single-seater career.

The German acknowledged that his progression through Formula 4 had included difficult periods, but emphasised the importance of learning from those experiences as he prepares to compete in a faster and more demanding category.

“I’m incredibly excited to make my GB3 debut in Barcelona! After a half and one full season in Formula 4, this opportunity feels like a real reward for all the hard work we’ve put in. It hasn’t always been an easy journey, and things haven’t always gone the way I hoped, but I’ve learned a lot from those experiences. Racing in GB3 is a big step forward for me, and I’m really grateful to TJ Speed Motorsports for giving me this opportunity. I know there’s a lot to learn, but I’ll give it everything I’ve got and try to make the most of this experience.”

His comments highlight the significance of the upcoming weekend, which will provide an opportunity to assess his development against drivers with considerably more experience in GB3 machinery.

Although Kräling has raced at several European circuits through his previous commitments, adapting to the Tatuus MSV GB3-025 will present a different challenge. The car’s increased power and aerodynamic performance will require adjustments to braking, cornering and race management.

The Barcelona finale will therefore serve as an important development opportunity rather than simply another addition to his racing schedule.

TJ Speed and Kräling extend partnership into 2027 Oceania campaign

Kräling’s agreement with TJ Speed extends beyond the Barcelona weekend, with the German also confirmed to compete with the team in the 2027 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy (CTFROT).

The New Zealand championship will provide another opportunity for him to develop his experience in higher-performance single-seater machinery during the European winter.

The programme will feature the introduction of second-generation Formula Regional cars, offering drivers an additional step in their progression towards the FIA Formula 3 Championship and other international categories.

Kräling’s 2027 CTFROT campaign with TJ Speed will build on the working relationship established during their GB3 appearance, allowing both parties to continue developing their understanding of one another across different championships.

Neff also highlighted the significance of the team’s growing international reach, with its operations extending across three continents.

“We’re excited to get going in Barcelona, and delighted to confirm Arjen as our first driver, extending an agreement with him that also includes racing in Oceania in a few weeks time. This of course means we will have teams operating in America, Europe and Australia, which I’m fairly sure hasn’t been done for quite a while!”

The announcement reinforces TJ Speed’s intention to broaden its competitive activities beyond North America, with Barcelona providing a first opportunity to establish its presence in the European paddock.

Barcelona debut comes during decisive GB3 championship finale

TJ Speed’s arrival will coincide with a closely contested conclusion to the 2026 GB3 Championship, with several established drivers still competing for the title.

VRD Racing’s Nikita Bedrin leads the championship heading into Barcelona, although Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough, Rodin Motorsport’s Martin Molnar and Xcel Motorsport’s Lucas Fluxá remain mathematically capable of challenging him.

The title battle intensified during the penultimate round at Brands Hatch, where Fairclough secured victories in the opening two races before Fluxá won the reversed-grid finale.

The championship’s final weekend will therefore present TJ Speed with a competitive introduction to GB3, with experienced drivers and established teams seeking to maximise their remaining championship opportunities.

Kräling will also be among several newcomers stepping up from lower categories for the finale. British driver Fred Green has already confirmed his GB3 debut with Elite Motorsport, having finished runner-up in the 2026 GB4 Championship.

TJ Speed’s second driver will similarly arrive from Formula 4-level competition, although the team has yet to reveal their identity.

The Barcelona event will take place from 5–8 November, with the final races scheduled for 7–8 November. It will provide the organisation with an initial opportunity to evaluate GB3 machinery and operations in competitive conditions.

Barcelona could provide foundation for full-time 2027 GB3 campaign

Although TJ Speed has only confirmed its participation in the Barcelona finale, the team is already considering a more extensive GB3 programme for 2027.

Its successful history in FRAC, USF Pro 2000 and Formula Regional Oceania provides a foundation for entering another competitive junior single-seater category. However, the move into Europe will also introduce different operational demands, particularly regarding logistics, technical preparation and competing against established GB3 teams.

Barcelona will allow the organisation to gain firsthand experience of the championship before making any further commitment.

For Kräling, the event represents an important step beyond Formula 4, offering an opportunity to develop his experience ahead of the CTFROT season in January. His continued partnership with TJ Speed should also provide valuable stability as he adapts to different categories and racing environments.

With one driver confirmed and another announcement expected, TJ Speed will now focus on preparing its two-car operation for its first European event.

The GB3 finale therefore represents an important milestone for both parties. Kräling will aim to gain experience and demonstrate his progress, while TJ Speed Motorsport begins a new chapter that could lead to a permanent presence in European junior single-seater racing.
