Rui-Heng Yeh and Diego de la Torre shared the victories as the 2026 Euroformula Open season concluded at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where Team Motopark celebrated another successful weekend and secured the top three positions in the final Drivers’ Championship.

Already crowned champion following his Race 3 victory at Monza, Yeh added two more victories in Barcelona to finish the season with 10 wins. However, his teammates also had important championship positions to settle, with de la Torre defending second against Jesse Carrasquedo and Wiktor Dobrzański attempting to overturn Javier Herrera’s two-point advantage in the Rookie Championship.

The weekend began with an impressive performance from Euroformula Open debutant Ary Bansal, who topped Thursday’s private testing and Friday’s combined Free Practice classification for BVM Racing. Carrasquedo subsequently secured his sixth pole position of the season, but Yeh converted a stronger start into his ninth victory during Saturday’s opening race.

De la Torre responded with victory in Sunday’s first contest to secure runner-up honours, while Dobrzański completed his Rookie Championship comeback. Yeh then controlled the final race to secure his tenth victory, with Bansal finishing second and Jan Koller claiming his maiden outright podium.

The Euroformula Open field began its final weekend with three private testing sessions on Thursday, 22 October. The 13-car entry featured several changes from Monza, including Bansal’s championship debut with BVM Racing, Ricardo Miranda Baptista’s return and Felix Fu joining Team Motopark.

De la Torre set the pace in the opening session with a 1:33.315, narrowly beating Carrasquedo by 0.027s. Koller completed an all-Motopark top three, finishing another 0.121s behind Carrasquedo, while Lorenzo Castillo and Dobrzański rounded out the leading five.

However, BVM Racing took control during the remaining sessions. Bansal topped the second test with a 1:32.706, finishing 0.168s ahead of Herrera and 0.288s clear of Alessandro Famularo. The Italian outfit placed four drivers inside the top four, with Niels Koolen completing its strong result.

Bansal improved further in the final session, recording a 1:32.446 to establish the fastest time of Thursday’s private testing. Koolen finished second, 0.425s behind, while Yeh emerged as Motopark’s leading driver in third.

The results provided an encouraging introduction for Bansal as he adapted to the Dallara F324.

Carrasquedo’s pole-position advantage disappeared at the start of Saturday’s opening race as Yeh moved ahead of his Motopark teammate to take the lead. De la Torre remained third, establishing an early advantage for the German outfit despite BVM Racing’s strong practice performances.

Further back, Bansal stalled from sixth on the grid during his first Euroformula Open race start. Although the field avoided the stationary car, contact between Castillo and Koller at the opening corner subsequently left Castillo stranded in the gravel and brought out the Safety Car.

Yeh controlled the restart and maintained his advantage over Carrasquedo, while de la Torre remained close enough to challenge for second. However, the order at the front remained unchanged, with Yeh securing his ninth victory of the season after 17 laps.

Carrasquedo finished just 0.557s behind, with de la Torre completing an all-Motopark podium another 3.826s back. Koolen took fourth ahead of Dobrzański, who secured the Rookie Trophy victory and moved into the lead of the Rookie Championship.

Baptista followed in sixth ahead of Famularo, Herrera and Bansal. Fu completed the top ten, while Koller and Ferrazzano finished 11th and 12th. Herrera recorded the fastest lap with a 1:34.084.

Baptista finished fourth ahead of Koolen and de la Torre, while Famularo, Carrasquedo and Herrera completed the leading nine. Fu took tenth ahead of Dobrzański, Ferrazzano and Castillo, who received two five-second penalties for failing to respect race director instructions.

Herrera recorded the fastest lap, but Dobrzański retained enough points to claim the Rookie Championship.

The Motopark driver strengthened that position in Race 2 by finishing third overall and second among the rookies, while Herrera finished sixth overall and third in the Rookie classification.

Although both drivers stalled at the start of Race 3, Dobrzański maintained enough of his advantage to secure the championship. He finished fifth among the rookies, collecting four points, while Herrera finished fourth and earned six.

Team Motopark concluded the season with 356 points, finishing 131 ahead of BVM Racing to secure the Teams’ Championship.

Motopark added 50 points across the final three races, extending its championship total from 306 after Monza to 356. The team also secured all three overall victories in Barcelona, ensuring that it completed the final weekend with another clean sweep of race wins.

Yeh concludes dominant 2026 Euroformula Open season

Barcelona provided a fitting conclusion to Yeh’s championship-winning campaign. Having secured the Drivers’ title at Monza, he entered the final round without the pressure of a championship battle but continued demonstrating the pace and consistency that had established him as the leading driver throughout 2026.

His victories in Races 1 and 3 brought his season tally to ten, while de la Torre’s Race 2 success confirmed the Mexican as championship runner-up. Carrasquedo completed Motopark’s clean sweep of the top three despite failing to convert his sixth pole position into another victory.

The final round also provided important results for several younger drivers. Bansal made an immediate impression on his debut by topping testing and Free Practice before claiming a Race 3 podium, while Koller secured his first outright top-three finish. Baptista also enjoyed a productive weekend, highlighted by second place in Race 2.

However, Dobrzański’s Rookie Championship victory provided the closest title conclusion. The Polish driver overturned a narrow deficit to Herrera and secured the championship by just two points after a season-long battle.

With Motopark securing all three Barcelona victories and finishing comfortably ahead in the Teams’ standings, the German outfit concludes 2026 having dominated the Euroformula Open’s principal championship classifications.
