Timur Shagaliev secured the 2026 FIA F4 Chinese Championship title during Round 6 at Zhuhai International Circuit, finishing nine points ahead of Kimi Chan after the pair claimed two victories apiece across the season-ending weekend.
Shagaliev entered the finale with an 18-point advantage following a difficult Round 5 at Hunan International Circuit, where Chan had reduced the championship gap through two victories. However, the Asia Racing Team RFN driver responded with both pole positions and wins in Races 1 and 3, securing the title before the final contest.
Chan remained competitive throughout the weekend, winning both reversed-grid races for CHAMP Academy to finish the season with nine victories, three more than Shagaliev. Yu Yan also enjoyed a successful finale, collecting four podium finishes to secure third in the Drivers’ Championship.
The Teams’ Championship produced an equally close conclusion. CHAMP Academy and Black Blade Racing finished level on 554 points, but CHAMP secured the title on countback, having claimed 12 race victories compared with Black Blade’s four. Asia Racing Team RFN completed the top three on 549 points, leaving only five points separating the championship’s leading three teams.

2026 Chinese F4: Zhuhai: Race 1: Shagaliev extends title lead with fifth victory
Shagaliev converted his pole position into victory during Saturday’s opening race, controlling the 18-lap contest to claim his fifth win of the season. The Asia Racing Team RFN driver maintained his advantage from the start, although the battle behind him created several changes among his closest championship rivals.
Chan initially lost positions to Yu and Chen Sicong during the opening exchanges, dropping from second on the grid. However, he recovered to third after overtaking Chen, allowing him to remain within reach of the championship leader.
Yu established himself as Shagaliev’s closest challenger and maintained pressure throughout the race. Despite remaining within striking distance, the Black Blade Racing driver could not find a way past, eventually crossing the line just 0.462s behind the winner.
Chan completed the podium another 0.982s behind, while Sun impressed on his debut by finishing fourth. Chen Sicong secured the CFGP victory from fifth overall, followed by Chen Zhuyuan and Feng.
Lao finished eighth and second in CFGP, with Zhao and Zhang completing the top ten. Turkin claimed the Master victory in 14th.
Shagaliev’s victory increased his advantage over Chan, placing further pressure on the CHAMP Academy driver before the reversed-grid contest.

2026 Chinese F4: Zhuhai: Race 2: Chan wins dramatic reversed-grid contest
The second race produced a considerably more unpredictable contest as the reversed-grid format reshuffled the starting order. Ethan Bohong Liu initially lined up on pole, but several drivers ran wide during the opening corners, prompting an early Safety Car intervention. Liu lost positions in the confusion, allowing Zhao to inherit the lead after starting fourth.
At the restart, Zhao maintained his advantage while Liu Shangqing came under pressure from Chan. The CHAMP Academy driver had already gained seven positions and moved past Liu at Turn 4 before turning his attention towards the leader.
Another Safety Car period followed a multi-car collision at Turn 4 involving Qi Diqin, Chen Zhuyuan and Yang Kaiwen. When racing resumed, Chan immediately challenged Zhao, completing the move for first at Turn 3. Shagaliev also passed Zhao shortly afterwards, moving into second as he attempted to limit his rival’s championship gains.
A subsequent collision between Zhao and Liu Shangqing brought out another Safety Car, preventing further meaningful racing before the chequered flag.
Chan secured his eighth victory of the season by just 0.317s over Shagaliev, with Yu completing the podium. Sun followed in fourth, while Yang Peng claimed the CFGP victory from fifth overall.
Turkin secured another Master victory in eighth, with only 19 drivers classified after a race featuring several incidents and retirements.

2026 Chinese F4: Zhuhai: Race 3: Shagaliev secures championship with sixth victory
Shagaliev entered Sunday’s opening race knowing that another strong performance could secure the championship before the finale. Starting from pole, he maintained the lead through the opening corners, although a multi-car incident involving Wang Zejun brought the race to an early halt.
Wang’s car overturned following contact near the opening corners, prompting officials to display the red flag. Marshals attended the incident, and the Pointer Racing driver emerged from the car without injury.
Following the restart, Shagaliev retained the lead ahead of Chen Sicong, Sun and Chan. Yu subsequently gained positions during the opening stages, challenging Feng and Lao before moving into contention for the podium.
A further Safety Car period followed when Ken Chow became stranded in the gravel near Turn 9 while battling Andy Law. With approximately six minutes remaining, the interruption reduced the time available for the leading drivers to challenge Shagaliev.
Racing resumed with just over two minutes left, but the championship leader maintained his advantage and secured his sixth victory by 0.350s over Sun, who claimed his first Chinese F4 podium during his debut weekend. Yu finished third, while Chan could manage only fourth.
The result extended Shagaliev’s championship advantage to 34 points, securing the 2026 Drivers’ title with one race remaining. Chen Sicong completed the top five and claimed the CFGP victory, while Jiang Wei won the Master category.

2026 Chinese F4: Zhuhai: Race 4: Chan concludes season with ninth victory
Although Shagaliev had already secured the Drivers’ Championship, Chan remained determined to end his campaign with another victory. The final reversed-grid race began with Yang Kaiwen on pole, but Liu Shangqing moved ahead at Turn 3 during the opening lap.
Chan made an exceptional start from ninth, gaining seven positions to move into second before completing the opening lap. He immediately began pressuring Liu and took the lead at Turn 3 on lap three, establishing himself at the front of the field.
Behind him, newly crowned champion Shagaliev made contact with Chen Sicong at Turn 1, forcing both drivers to retire. The incident brought out the Safety Car and ended Shagaliev’s campaign after only two laps.
Chan retained his advantage when racing resumed and gradually extended the gap, eventually crossing the line 5.056s ahead of Yu to secure his ninth victory of the season. Liu completed the podium, claiming his and T-1 Racing’s first top-three finish of the championship.
Zhao recovered from his difficult qualifying and Race 3 absence to finish fourth, ahead of Feng. Qian Fanghang secured the CFGP victory from sixth overall, while Turkin completed a successful weekend with another Master class win.
Despite Chan’s double victory, Shagaliev’s earlier success ensured the championship remained in his hands by nine points.

Master class standings
The Master category remained closely contested heading into Zhuhai, with Andy Law holding a narrow five-point advantage over Ken Chow following the previous round at Hunan.
Viktor Turkin nevertheless emerged as the leading performer during the finale, securing three class victories across the four races. The Blackjack Racing RFN driver won Races 1, 2 and 4, continuing the strong form he had demonstrated during his previous appearance at Hunan.
However, Turkin’s limited participation earlier in the season prevented him from challenging for the championship. Law instead maintained his advantage through consistent results, securing second place in the category during three races despite failing to finish Race 2.
Chow remained competitive but could not overturn the deficit, eventually finishing runner-up on 313 points. Jiang Wei completed the top three with 264 after claiming the remaining class victory during Race 3.
Tian Feng finished fourth ahead of Turkin, with Patrick Tsang and Han Ying Fu completing the championship classification.

Shagaliev completes championship-winning Chinese F4 campaign
Zhuhai brought an end to a championship that had changed considerably throughout the 2026 season. Chan initially established himself as the leading contender, but Shagaliev gradually recovered through consistent podium finishes and a strong run of victories during the middle of the campaign.
His performances at Chengdu proved particularly significant, allowing him to turn a championship deficit into a substantial advantage. However, Chan responded with two victories at Hunan, reducing the gap and ensuring the title remained open heading into the season finale.
Shagaliev ultimately delivered when it mattered most, claiming both pole positions and winning Races 1 and 3 to secure the championship before the final race. Although Chan completed an impressive double-winning weekend, he could not overturn the Russian driver’s earlier advantage.
Shagaliev finishes the season with six victories, 19 podiums and 374 points, nine ahead of Chan, who claimed nine wins and 13 podiums. Yu completes the championship’s leading three with two victories, 14 podiums and 305 points.
The Teams’ Championship also concludes with CHAMP Academy securing the title on countback after finishing level with Black Blade Racing, while Asia Racing Team RFN completes the top three just five points behind.
With the 2026 season concluded, Shagaliev leaves Zhuhai as the Chinese F4 Drivers’ Champion following the closest title fight in the championship’s history. Chan’s nine victories and the narrow final margin underline the competitiveness of a season in which the championship remained undecided until the final round.
