Mari Boya believes he and Campos Racing are in an excellent position to deliver a strong performance at Silverstone, following a standout F3 Qualifying session on Friday at the 2025 British GP. The Spaniard secured fourth on the grid, his best Saturday result since Monte Carlo, marking just the second time this season he will start inside the top five.
More importantly, Boya attributes the turnaround to key adjustments made to the car setup, which have enhanced both his confidence and the car’s balance heading into race day.
“I am quite happy. Maybe the only thing is that we ended FP with another compromise on the car we wanted to try, so I started off in Qualifying a bit slowly,” he explained after the session. “But I got the confidence back, and on the last set, and that is when it matters.”
After a season characterised by recovery drives, the Silverstone weekend represents a shift in fortunes for the Spanish driver and his team. Rather than needing to climb up from the midfield, Boya now finds himself within striking distance of the podium from the outset.
“We have a strong position for Sunday, and we know how strong we are in the races, so I am feeling confident heading into the rest of the weekend.”
Turning Qualifying struggles into momentum
So far this year, Boya and Campos have regularly displayed strong race pace but struggled to convert that into consistent top finishes due to compromised grid positions. On multiple occasions, Boya has fought back during both the Sprint and Feature Races to salvage points.
However, with a top-four starting slot now secured, Boya is aiming to shift from damage limitation to attacking the front runners. The tweaks made ahead of F3 Qualifying appear to have unlocked a level of performance that has Boya feeling especially optimistic ahead of the 2025 British GP.
“I think we have had some really nice races already this year. In Barcelona, it was a bit hard because we had just two corners to go on the lap, and then we had an issue and that result was compromised.”
Despite that setback, Boya insists that he and the team are building momentum at the right time in the season.
“But, we have gotten into a really good rhythm so I am super happy. So let us see if we can carry this form going forward, because I am feeling more and more confident every time.”
Sharp focus on Sunday’s race strategy
While the immediate priority is to capitalise on Saturday’s F3 Sprint Race at the 2025 British GP, Boya remains highly focused on understanding the car’s performance over a full race distance—particularly with Sunday’s Feature in mind.
Campos and Boya will need to study how the Pirelli Hard tyres behave around the fast and flowing Silverstone layout, especially with limited long-run data available.
“I will focus now to understand the car as much as I can and what the limiting factors will be to get the best result on Sunday. We have a really good opportunity to score big points.”
He added that the team’s strong race pace throughout 2025 has already proven its value, and that their current track position offers the perfect chance to finally convert that into a headline result.
“The most important thing now is to learn tomorrow how to deal with the track and how this Hard compound will react around Silverstone, because we do not really know.”
Sprint Race key to unlocking full potential
Looking ahead to Saturday at the 2025 British GP, the possibility of unpredictable weather could play a major role in shaping the outcome of the F3 Sprint Race. Rain remains a possibility, and Boya is preparing for all scenarios. Nevertheless, he sees the shorter race as a valuable opportunity to refine the team’s understanding ahead of the more rewarding Feature on Sunday.
“We will take the maximum information we can for Sunday. I am confident about the rest of the weekend, and I am excited to see how it goes.”
Regardless of conditions, Boya remains determined to extract everything possible from both races, confident that the team has found a performance breakthrough.
“We will try to maximise all that we can. I saw that rain could be possible but today it is looking like it might stay dry. So we will see. Whatever happens, we will do our best.”
With the pieces now seemingly falling into place, Mari Boya stands ready to challenge for major points at Silverstone. After a season of perseverance, both driver and team are poised to turn potential into results on one of F3’s most demanding stages.
