After a tough Qualifying session left Dino Beganovic in eighth and Luke Browning down in 12th for the Silverstone weekend, Hitech TGR were faced with a challenging couple of races. However, the British team bounced back strongly, with both drivers showing grit and determination to carve their way through the field, thanks to strategic decision-making and the confidence gained from their impressive performance in the Feature Race. Hitech TGR Team Principal Clive Hatton reflected on the 2025 Silverstone F2 Round, and his drivers’ performance at the British GP.
A positive turnaround for Hitech TGR
Despite difficult results in recent weeks, Hitech TGR’s efforts in Silverstone turned out to be hugely positive. Both drivers scored valuable points, with Beganovic finishing in fourth place and Browning securing a well-deserved podium in third. Team Manager Clive Hatton shared his satisfaction with the result, calling it a boost for both drivers and the team’s overall morale.
“It was a very, very good day and made up for Qualifying. Both drivers have been on the pace since Free Practice, especially Luke. He was right up there from his second run and Qualifying didn’t quite go his way, the grip just wasn’t there.”
Hatton highlighted that despite their tough Qualifying positions, both drivers were able to put in solid performances during the race, with Browning showing great aggression in his charge through the field.
“But I think he showed even yesterday. He was quite quick in the race and was pretty aggressive. The tyres held on and again today, he made his way through the field, and Dino followed. Thankfully they sorted it out between themselves and stayed out of trouble.”
Browning’s impressive recovery
Luke Browning’s performance on Sunday was particularly notable, as he turned his disappointing Friday into a successful Feature Race. The Williams Racing Development Driver had finished outside the top 10 in both Sprint Races, but his performance on Sunday was a standout.
Hatton pointed out how Browning’s confidence and strategy helped him overcome the challenges that he faced during the F2 Silverstone Round at the 2025 British GP:
“It was a big disappointment on Friday, for Luke especially. He was really gunning for Pole at his home race, but sometimes these things don’t work out. But we knew we had pace.”
The home hero made a series of remarkable overtakes, including an audacious move on Richard Verschoor into Copse corner, which many considered one of the moves of the season.
“I’m not sure he’d have been able to get there (to first), but he was determined in the races to show everyone what he was made of. I think he’s done a lot of wet laps around Silverstone, so he knew where to place the car. And he was quite confident by that stage.”
Browning also made confident moves at Luffield, Stowe, and Vale, pushing his way up the order in the wet conditions. If the race had run longer, Hatton believes Browning might have been in contention for an even higher finish, given his pace and determination.
Beganovic’s solid performance
While Browning grabbed the headlines with his podium finish, Beganovic also delivered a strong performance in the Feature Race. Starting from eighth on the grid, he climbed steadily through the field, eventually securing fourth place. Hatton acknowledged both drivers’ efforts and the importance of the team’s ability to adapt to difficult conditions.
“Dino followed [Browning] and they stayed out of trouble. Thankfully, they sorted it out between themselves. It’s a good result for both of them, and we’re really happy with how they performed today.”
A confidence boost for the remainder of 2025
The results at Silverstone were crucial for Hitech TGR, as they provided both a confidence boost and valuable points. Despite a challenging start to the weekend, the British team showed resilience, with both Beganovic and Browning bouncing back to secure strong finishes in the Feature Race.
For Hatton and the team, the Silverstone weekend proved that they had the pace to compete at the front, and with more consistent performances, they are confident in their potential for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.
