Formula E will make history once again as the electric racing championship prepares to host its second All-Women’s Test in Valencia this October 2025. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has announced that the pioneering initiative will return on October 31st, offering double the track time and expanded opportunities for elite female drivers.
A platform for elite talent
Building upon last year’s groundbreaking debut, the All-Women’s test in Valencia will welcome up to 20 accomplished women drivers across all 10 Formula E teams. Each participant will have the opportunity to pilot the cutting-edge GEN3 Evo race car—the same machinery used by championship drivers—supported by full team infrastructure typically reserved for official competitors.
The expansion represents a significant commitment to fostering diversity within motorsport’s upper echelons. Each team must field at least one female driver for the full-day session, with the option to enter a second participant, ensuring maximum representation across the grid.
Proven pathways to success
The inaugural test has already demonstrated its value in creating tangible career opportunities. Five women from last year’s session secured rookie or development positions within Formula E, with three progressing to permanent roles within team structures. This track record of success underscores the programme’s effectiveness in bridging the gap between talent and opportunity.

Complementing the professional test session, Formula E will simultaneously host a special edition of the FIA Girls on Track programme. This educational initiative will provide up to 100 local young women with hands-on workshops and direct access to drivers and teams, creating inspirational pathways for the next generation of motorsport professionals.
Leadership vision
Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, emphasised the programme’s unique approach to equality in motorsport:
“We’re pleased to be returning with our second all-women’s test. Last year’s event was a landmark moment and its success has laid a foundation for what comes next. This year, with double the track time, we’re offering an even greater platform for elite women drivers to demonstrate their talent in our cutting-edge GEN3 Evo race car.”
“Unlike other series where women drivers have to use old or restricted machinery, they’ll be using the state-of-the-art GEN3 Evo car that accelerates 30% faster than an F1 car, just as our Championship drivers do. We’ve already seen this initiative lead to real career progression for multiple drivers, and we expect this year’s test to open even more doors.”
Pablo Martino, Head of Formula E at the FIA, highlighted the programme’s growing momentum:
“Following the success of the inaugural Formula E Women’s Test, we are delighted to be offering talented female racers another invaluable opportunity to gain experience and showcase their skills in the series. The feedback from teams and participants last year was positive, and there has already been a tremendous level of interest in next month’s test.”
“At the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, we are committed to fostering greater diversity and equality in motorsport, and with a number of the women who tested the Formula E car last year having since gone on to establish themselves in some positions in the championship, we have no doubt that it is only a matter of time before we see one of them joining the grid.”
Technical excellence
The GEN3 Evo represents the pinnacle of electric racing technology, holding the distinction of being the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car ever constructed. Since its debut nearly a year ago at, the vehicle has consistently broken Formula E speed records whilst contributing to one of the championship’s most thrilling seasons, featuring triple-digit overtakes in most races.
Preparing for Season 12
The All-Women’s Test 2025 forms part of Formula E’s comprehensive pre-season preparation programme at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. The championship’s 20 official drivers will conduct their pre-season testing from 27-30 October at the Valencia venue, which has served as Formula E’s traditional testing ground.

Armed with enhanced understanding of the GEN3 Evo’s capabilities developed throughout the previous season, teams and drivers are positioned to push the technological boundaries even further. This intensive preparation period will culminate in the Season 12 opener in São Paulo on 6 December 2025.
The expanded All-Women’s Test represents more than just track time—it embodies Formula E’s commitment to creating sustainable pathways for diversity in motorsport’s most competitive arena, whilst maintaining the technical excellence that defines the championship.
