The 2025 GB3 Championship’s double qualifying session at Donington Park produced two standout performances on Saturday morning. Alex Ninovic continued his relentless qualifying form by securing pole position for Race One, while Reza Seewooruthun mastered the changing conditions to earn his maiden pole for Race Two.
Ninovic targets points and consistency
Race one pole-sitter Alex Ninovic underlined his championship ambitions with another commanding qualifying lap for Rodin Motorsport. Reflecting on his result, he emphasised both the strength of his car and the importance of maximising every opportunity.
“To get the pole for race one is amazing and then sets us up for a good weekend. The car feels pretty good, I’m happy with the team and can’t wait for the racing coming up, and I think we should be able to convert into some good points.”
He highlighted the championship battle and spoke about the need to approach each race with full commitment.
“It’s all about the points, and collecting as many points as we can in the next races is important. We’ll see how it goes, try and maximise as much as we can and hopefully come away with the championship one round early. But you can’t say anything until it happens, and we’ll be putting in 100% effort and hopefully it all pays off.”
Ninovic also reflected on his familiarity with Donington Park and credited Rodin Motorsport for their preparation.
“We’ve raced here in the past and I like the circuit. The team does a good job with the car and it’s put us in a good position to score some really good points.”
Ninovic’s eighth pole of the season extends his dominance in qualifying and places him at the centre of the title fight heading into the Donington races.
Seewooruthun delivers breakthrough pole
In the second session, Reza Seewooruthun seized his first-ever GB3 pole position, delivering a composed drive in wet conditions for Argenti with Prema. The 17-year-old highlighted both his preparation and his ability to recover from a difficult Friday.
“It was a very good session, I just had a clear track. The team really helped set me up in a good place, I had a clear run really. We tried lots of different things over the couple of laps, did our cooldown when we needed to and the pace was there. I made all the mistakes yesterday in the practices, had some offs and stuff, but pulled it all together in the Qualifying session.”
Seewooruthun looked ahead to the racing and underlined his intention to attack from the start.
“I want to get a good start in the first race. Wet starts are always tricky for everyone, so I want try and capitalise on everyone else’s mistakes and go for the win. I’ve got low pressure, we’re sat in seventh at the moment. They’re going to be playing the long game, we can play the short game, get it done.”
His performance not only brought Argenti with Prema to the front row but also confirmed his growing confidence in the championship’s latter stages.
An intriguing weekend awaits at Donington Park
The qualifying outcomes set the stage for an intriguing Donington Park weekend. Ninovic will look to strengthen his championship lead from the front in Race One, while Seewooruthun’s breakthrough offers him the chance to attack without pressure in Race Two.
With wet conditions threatening to play a decisive role across the races, both drivers head into the afternoon with momentum, confidence, and a clear determination to convert their qualifying success into strong results.
