Vermeulen reflects on a tough but rewarding season
Thierry Vermeulen, who started the race, spoke about the ups and downs experienced throughout the season and expressed satisfaction with the team’s efforts despite some challenges. He admitted that the final race weekend presented some difficulties but praised the collective determination of the entire squad.
While speaking to the media after the race and podium celebration, Vermeulen said: “Yeah, it has been a cool season, really cool to be part of it. Today I struggled a bit more, but these guys did a great job and also the whole team worked super hard, with all their heart.”
Highlighting the competitiveness of their machinery, he added, “I think we were the quickest Aston all weekend, so something we can really be proud of to end the season like that.”
King focuses on strategy and team effort
Harry King, who took the No. 33 Aston Martin over the finish line, offered insight into the tactical decisions made during the race’s closing stages, where pressure from rivals threatened their position. He emphasised the importance of measured judgement to secure vital points for the championship campaign.
Reflecting on the collective effort, King credited the team’s relentless dedication over the course of the year. He said: “Yeah, I was very fully aware of the situation, but I also knew that our situation was far more important than theirs, so I had to be a little bit more intelligent on the last few laps of the race, and you know, bag the points that ultimately, we needed to win the championship, so it’s a credit to the team, they’ve done a fantastic job all year. The staff have been excellent in two seasons, and it’s been a pleasure to share alongside Thierry and Chris, so I think this championship is a credit to them all.”
Lulham praises consistency and teamwork
Chris Lulham reflected on the team’s overall performance throughout the endurance season, highlighting the importance of consistency and reliability in such a demanding championship. He reiterated the sentiments shared by his teammates about the smooth and fault-free nature of their campaign. Lulham also acknowledged the strong contributions made by Vermeulen and King during crucial qualifying and race laps.
“Yeah, absolutely. I can only repeat what these guys have said, we’ve had such a smooth endurance season, with very little faults from everyone, and this is most important as well. Thierry and Harry, they’ve got some strong pointing laps, and like Thierry also said, the pace this weekend across our manufacturers has been very strong.”
