TC Racing has announced the addition of 16-year-old Romanian driver Luca Viișoreanu to its Eurocup-3 programme for the 2026 season. With this move, the team completes its driver line-up alongside Renzo Barbuy and reinforces its long-term commitment to developing young drivers within the European single-seater pyramid.
Moreover, the signing reflects TC Racing’s strategic approach to combining youth, experience and future potential. Eurocup-3 represents a key step in the pathway towards higher single-seater categories, and the team views the 2026 campaign as an important building block within a wider sporting project.
From karting titles to Formula 4 success
Viișoreanu arrives in Eurocup-3 with a strong and steadily built racing background. He began competitive karting in 2018 and immediately demonstrated his ability by winning the Romanian Karting Masters in the Mini ROK category. Over the following seasons, he continued to collect titles and podiums at national level, while also gaining experience in major international events in Italy and across Europe.
As he progressed through the junior ranks, Viișoreanu consistently showed adaptability and technical understanding. He claimed the Romanian Karting Masters and International Karting Masters titles in Junior ROK in 2022, results that confirmed his readiness to transition into single-seater racing.
That transition came in 2024, when he made his debut in the Italian Formula 4 Championship. Competing in one of the most competitive junior series in Europe, he focused on learning and development while delivering several strong performances. Most notably, he secured his first rookie podium at Vallelunga, underlining his capacity to fight at the front despite limited experience.
Viișoreanu continued his development in 2025, taking on a broader racing programme that included Italian Formula 4, Euro 4 and Formula 4 CEZ. His progress culminated in his first single-seater victory at the Red Bull Ring in the F4 CEZ Championship, a milestone that marked a significant step forward in his career. In parallel, he also stepped up to Euroformula Open, where he achieved multiple top-10 finishes at major circuits, further strengthening his competitive and technical foundation ahead of the move to Eurocup-3.
A shared vision between Viișoreanu and TC Racing ahead of 2026 Eurocup-3 campaign
The move to Eurocup-3 represents a decisive moment in Viișoreanu’s career, as he prepares to measure himself against a highly competitive field over a full season. Speaking about the step up and his decision to join TC Racing, the Romanian driver highlighted both the importance of the championship and the environment he believes the team can provide.
On joining TC Racing, Luca Viișoreanu said: “Eurocup-3 is an important step in my career and a key season to prepare as best as possible for the future. I’m confident that TC Racing is the right environment to keep growing as a driver, and I’m excited to be part of a competitive project with clear and ambitious goals.”
From TC Racing’s perspective, the decision to sign Viișoreanu follows careful evaluation of his performances, mindset and development trajectory across karting and Formula 4. Team owner Thibaut Courtois emphasised the value of Viișoreanu’s previous experience and his suitability for the demands of Eurocup-3.
Commenting on the signing, Courtois said: “Luca brings valuable experience from his time in Italian Formula 4. We believe he has the potential and mindset needed to tackle a demanding Eurocup-3 season and fit perfectly into the project we are building for 2026.”
The team sees Viișoreanu as a natural fit within its wider objectives, particularly in terms of building a competitive and sustainable programme for the coming seasons.
A balanced line-up and long-term focus
With Renzo Barbuy and Luca Viișoreanu confirmed, TC Racing heads into the 2026 Eurocup-3 season with a young, balanced and complementary driver pairing. Both drivers bring different backgrounds and strengths, allowing the team to focus on collective progress, consistency and development across the season.
As preparations continue, TC Racing aims to maximise performance while maintaining a clear emphasis on driver growth. For Viișoreanu, the step to Eurocup-3 represents both a reward for his steady rise through the ranks and an opportunity to further establish himself on the European single-seater stage.
