Bruno del Pino led the opening Sprint Race of the 2026 F3 season at the Australian GP after starting on reverse-grid pole for Van Amersfoort Racing, with teammate Enzo Deligny alongside him. Del Pino made a strong start and held the lead into the opening laps, while early battles unfolded behind him. Rodin Motorsport’s Brando Badoer moved into third after overtaking Trident’s Noah Strømsted, as several drivers fought for positions in the midfield.
The race also featured incidents and technical issues. Mattia Colnaghi spun into the gravel at the penultimate corner but managed to continue, while Campos Racing’s Ugo Ugochukwu gained places during the early laps. Race Control noted Badoer for a possible jump start, and a DRS malfunction soon affected the entire field, limiting overtaking opportunities.
The race ended prematurely after PREMA teammates James Wharton and Louis Sharp collided, leaving significant debris and barrier damage. Officials first deployed the Safety Car before red-flagging the session. With conditions preventing a restart, Race Control abandoned the race and awarded points only to the top five finishers.
