Norwegian prospect Marcus Sæter will take the next step in his single-seater career after G4 Racing confirmed him as the team’s first driver for the 2026 FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FREC).

The young driver impressed during his development through karting and junior categories and now prepares to compete on one of Europe’s most competitive junior single-seater stages.

Sæter will graduate to Formula Regional after building experience in the Italian Formula 4 Championship. The Norwegian has shown steady progression since moving into car racing, combining racecraft with strong technical understanding.

G4 Racing believes the step to Formula Regional will allow him to refine his abilities further while competing against some of the most promising drivers in European junior racing.

Marcus Sæter said: “I’m thrilled to officially announce my participation in the 2026 FIA Formula Regional European Championship. Joining this team is an important step forward in my career, and I’m grateful for their trust and this opportunity.

“I’ve been working hard during the off-season to prepare physically and mentally, and I’m ready to take on this new challenge. The championship is highly competitive, and I’m eager to continue learning and improving throughout the season.

“I would like to thank my family and partners for believing in me every step of the way and supporting me on this journey. I can’t wait to start working with the team and begin this new chapter.”

A career built through karting and junior categories

Sæter began karting in 2018 and quickly established himself as a competitive driver. During his karting career, he achieved several notable results, including second place at the 2021 South Garda Winter Cup in the OK-J category and another runner-up finish at the 2022 Trofeo delle Industrie in X30 Junior.

He stepped into car racing in 2024 with R Racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship. Sæter immediately demonstrated his potential, claiming two victories during the season and securing sixth place in the overall standings with eight podium finishes.

The Norwegian moved to single-seaters the following year. After a brief appearance in the Formula Winter Series, he joined Van Amersfoort Racing for his first campaign in the Italian Formula 4 Championship.

Sæter recorded several strong rookie performances during the season, including a rookie win at Vallelunga and another at Monza. He also secured multiple rookie podiums as he adapted to the demands of Formula 4 competition.

G4 Racing confident in new signing, Sæter, for 2026 FIA FREC

G4 Racing’s Sporting and Technical Manager Adrián Muñoz highlighted the team’s confidence in the Norwegian’s potential ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Adrián Muñoz said: “We are thrilled to welcome Marcus to G4 Racing for the 2026 FIA FREC season. He has demonstrated consistent improvement in recent years, as well as the discipline and technical awareness that are essential at this level. We believe he can adapt quickly to the demands of Formula Regional. Our goal is to provide him with an environment that allows him to reach his full potential. We are confident that our collaboration will enable us to develop a competitive and well-organised campaign for 2026.”

Sæter becomes the first driver confirmed in G4 Racing’s 2026 FIA Formula Regional European Championship line-up. His signing signals the team’s ambitions for the upcoming season as it aims to build a competitive programme capable of challenging across the championship.

With strong preparation during the off-season and a new partnership with G4 Racing, Sæter now turns his focus to establishing himself on the European Formula Regional stage.
