Kenzo Craigie took control of the 2026 E4 Championship by claiming all three pole positions and winning two races during the second round at Circuit Paul Ricard.

The R-ace GP driver entered the French weekend 26 points behind championship leader Luka Sammalisto. However, third place in Race 1 and victories in the two Sunday contests lifted Craigie to 138 points and gave him a 14-point advantage over the US Racing driver.

Alp Aksoy denied Craigie a clean sweep by passing him at the start of Race 1 and controlling the remainder of the contest. Meanwhile, Andy Consani claimed two second-place finishes as R-ace GP converted its home round into its strongest weekend of the season.

Thirty-eight drivers representing 25 nationalities and 10 teams contested the second of the championship’s three rounds. US Racing retained the Teams’ Championship lead, although R-ace GP substantially reduced the deficit through Craigie and Consani’s results.

2026 E4 Championship: Paul Ricard: Race 1

Aksoy immediately attacked Craigie when Race 1 began. The Prema Racing driver started alongside the pole-sitter, moved ahead during their opening-lap battle and retained the lead for the remainder of the contest.

The Safety Car interrupted the early stages after contact between Häkkinen and Nielsen forced both drivers to retire. However, Aksoy controlled the restart and rebuilt his advantage.

Consani moved ahead of Craigie to claim second, while the pole-sitter briefly fell to fourth behind Sammalisto. Craigie recovered by passing the championship leader and secured the final podium position.

Further back, Bondarev and Robinson made contact at Signes while contesting fifth. Both drivers spun and fell down the order, eventually finishing 27th and 31st respectively.

Aksoy took his first E4 victory by 1.220s over Consani. Craigie finished third and reduced Sammalisto’s championship advantage, while Savinkov and Killion completed the top six.

2026 E4 Championship: Paul Ricard: Race 2

Craigie made a clean start from pole in Race 2 and resisted Aksoy through the opening sequence. Unlike Race 1, the R-ace GP driver retained first place and immediately began building an advantage.

Aksoy remained second but could not match Craigie’s pace as his tyres overheated. The gap continued to increase, and Craigie ultimately won by more than six seconds.

Consani challenged Aksoy for second during the closing stages. Their battle allowed Sammalisto, who had started from the fifth row, to close on the pair.

Sammalisto used a strong exit from the Mistral chicane to draw alongside Consani and completed the pass during the penultimate lap. The Finnish driver therefore secured third and limited the points lost to Craigie.

Consani settled for fourth ahead of Robinson, who recovered from the eighth row. Bansal finished sixth following battles with Busso and Costoya, while Maccagnani and Hattemer completed the top 10.

2026 E4 Championship: Paul Ricard: Race 3

Craigie converted his third pole position into the lead at the beginning of Race 3, with Consani retaining second to establish an early R-ace GP one-two.

Costoya initially held third but faced repeated attacks from Aksoy. The two Prema drivers exchanged positions during the early stages before the Safety Car interrupted the contest following an incident involving Al Sulaiti, Philippe-Armand Karras and Nielsen.

Sammalisto charged from ninth and reached the fight for the podium. However, the championship leader damaged his front wing while battling Costoya and fell through the order, eventually finishing 28th.

Bansal produced one of the strongest recoveries and reached fourth on the road. The Indian driver gained another position after officials added five seconds to Costoya’s time for gaining an advantage by leaving the track.

The penalty dropped Costoya from third to sixth and promoted Bansal onto the podium. Bondarev and Savinkov also moved ahead of the Spaniard in the amended classification.

Craigie managed the repeated neutralisations and crossed the line 0.525s ahead of Consani. The result completed an R-ace GP one-two and gave Craigie his second victory of the weekend.

A late Full Course Yellow followed an incident involving Häkkinen and Bernoldi. Panzeri finished 29th overall and claimed her second Women’s Trophy victory of the weekend.

Conclusion: Craigie transforms E4 title picture

Paul Ricard completely changed the championship battle. Craigie entered the weekend chasing Sammalisto but left with two victories, three poles and a 14-point lead.

Aksoy also established himself as a title contender by winning Race 1 and finishing second in Race 2. Although he dropped to seventh in the finale, the Prema driver remains only 26 points behind Craigie.

Consani delivered his strongest round through two second places and a fourth, while Bansal recovered from difficult Qualifying positions to secure a Race 3 podium. Sammalisto limited the damage with fourth and third in the opening two contests, but his front-wing damage in the finale proved costly.

R-ace GP dominated the individual results, but US Racing retained control of the Teams’ Championship after placing several cars inside the points throughout the weekend. Prema also remains firmly involved, leaving all three leading teams separated by 44 points.

The E4 Championship will conclude at Monza on 11 October. With 90 race points available across the final three contests, Craigie, Sammalisto and Aksoy remain the principal title contenders, while Consani retains a mathematical opportunity after moving to fourth.
