René Lammers set the pace across both 2026 Eurocup-3 Official Previous Test sessions at Monza, with the MP Motorsport rookie producing the quickest time of Friday during the morning running.

Lammers opened the day with a 1:41.198, finishing 0.232 seconds ahead of championship leader James Egozi and 0.266 clear of fellow rookie Alex Powell. He then remained at the top in the afternoon with a 1:41.839, narrowly beating Thomas Strauven by 0.047 seconds.

Although the second session produced a tighter fight at the front, nobody improved on Lammers’ opening benchmark. The Dutchman therefore completed Friday with both session-leading times before the first Qualifying session at the Temple of Speed.

Lammers leads opening Official Previous Test

Lammers immediately established MP Motorsport at the front during Official Previous Test 1, setting his 1:41.198 benchmark on the fifth of his 14 laps. The rookie averaged 206.1 km/h around Monza and ultimately held a 0.232-second advantage over championship leader Egozi.

Egozi completed 15 laps and recorded a 1:41.430 to take second for Palou Motorsport, while Powell placed Griffin Core by Campos third. Only 0.034 seconds separated the American pair, with Powell’s 1:41.464 also making him Lammers’ nearest rookie challenger.

Patrick Heuzenroeder followed in fourth, 0.409 seconds away from the benchmark, before Hitech rookie Genaro Trappa completed the top five. Bart Harrison placed Double R sixth, only 0.191 seconds behind Trappa, while Keanu Al Azhari took seventh for Hitech.

Ean Eyckmans gave MP Motorsport a second car inside the top eight with a 1:41.958. Hitech’s Santino Panetta and Palou Motorsport’s Rafael Perard completed a top 10 containing seven rookies, with only 0.024 seconds separating the pair.

The midfield remained exceptionally close. Christopher El Feghali missed the top 10 by just 0.004 seconds, while positions 10 through 17 were covered by only 0.165 seconds. Officials also deleted some lap times for Kacper Sztuka, Alceu Feldmann, Bianca Bustamante, Tommy Harfield, Heitor Dall’Agnol, Panetta and Lorenzo Campos for taking a shortcut.

Lammers completes Friday sweep in Test 2

Lammers remained fastest when the field returned for Official Previous Test 2, although the lap times did not reach the level established during the morning session.

The MP Motorsport rookie set a 1:41.839 on his 11th lap to take first by only 0.047 seconds. Strauven provided the closest challenge for Griffin Core by Campos with a 1:41.886, improving considerably from 12th in the opening session to second in the afternoon.

Tarnvanichkul also made a major step after his disrupted morning running. Having completed only three laps in Test 1 and finished 30th, the Griffin Core by Campos driver climbed to third with a 1:42.120, leaving him 0.281 seconds behind Lammers.

El Feghali moved from 11th to fourth for Drivex with a 1:42.197, while Al Azhari completed the top five only 0.050 seconds further back. Egozi followed in sixth after recording a 1:42.287, keeping the championship leader within half a second of Lammers despite dropping four positions compared with the morning.

Gianmarco Pradel took seventh and put a second MP Motorsport car inside the leading group. Powell followed in eighth for Griffin Core by Campos, with Eyckmans ninth and Sztuka completing the top 10.

Sztuka and Stefan Bostandjiev recorded identical 1:42.541 laps, placing them 0.702 seconds behind Lammers. However, Sztuka also caused a red flag during the session, leading officials to delete his best lap under Article 30.7. His next valid effort still left him 10th in the final classification.

Several other drivers lost individual lap times for shortcut infringements, including Nathan Tye, Heuzenroeder, Feldmann, Cota, Bustamante, Beckley, Bostandjiev, Perard, Fiorentino, Caretti, Egozi, Harrison and Trappa. Despite those interruptions, the field remained tightly packed, with the top 18 drivers all finishing within 0.966 seconds of Lammers.

Lammers carries outright benchmark into Qualifying

Lammers completed the two Official Previous Tests with a clean sweep and the fastest overall time, while his 1:41.198 from the morning remained 0.641 seconds quicker than his Test 2 benchmark. The MP Motorsport rookie also led his class in both sessions, establishing himself as one of the main drivers to watch when the competitive running begins.

Egozi produced the second-fastest overall lap through his morning 1:41.430, while Powell’s 1:41.464 left him third across Friday. Heuzenroeder and Trappa completed the overall top five, meaning every driver’s quickest lap came from the faster opening session.

However, Strauven’s afternoon performance demonstrated the closeness of the field as conditions and programmes changed. The Griffin Core by Campos rookie finished only 0.047 seconds behind Lammers in Test 2, while Tarnvanichkul recovered from limited morning running to take third.

Lammers therefore heads into Qualifying with the outright Monza benchmark after leading both sessions, but Egozi, Powell and a closely matched group behind will look to overturn MP Motorsport’s Friday advantage when the fight for the Race 1 grid begins.
