The 2026 GB4 Championship reaches its midway point at Silverstone this weekend, with a joint-record 29 drivers preparing to contest Rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the season.
Two days of testing opens the event before Qualifying and Race 1 begin the competitive action on Saturday. Race 2 and the reverse-grid Race 3 will then complete the weekend on Sunday at the Home of British Motorsport.
The championship returns to the Grand Prix circuit with Alex O’Grady leading a close three-way title fight. Meanwhile, several drivers arrive with momentum after a dramatic Donington Park weekend, while previous Silverstone winner Fred Green will aim to reclaim the championship lead.
O’Grady leads close three-way 2026 GB4 title battle
KMR Sport’s O’Grady enters the fourth round at the top of the Drivers’ Championship after moving ahead of Green at Donington Park.
The Irish driver holds an 11-point advantage over the Elite Motorsport contender. Hillspeed’s Enzo Hallman sits another five points behind Green, leaving only 16 points between the leading three drivers.
O’Grady took advantage of Green’s difficult Donington weekend with sixth in Race 1 and fourth in Race 2. Green recovered to 10th in the opening contest before contact at Goddards ended his second race.
However, Green limited the damage with an impressive charge to sixth in the reverse-grid finale. Therefore, all three championship leaders remain firmly in contention as GB4 begins the second half of its season.
Green targets repeat of season-opening Silverstone success
Green returns to a circuit where he enjoyed his strongest weekend of the campaign. The 17-year-old claimed double pole at the Silverstone season opener before winning the first two races and recording the fastest lap in both contests.
That performance established Green as the early championship leader. However, O’Grady’s consistency and Green’s Donington misfortune changed the order after the opening three events.
Green will now aim to use his proven Silverstone pace to recover the 11-point deficit. Nevertheless, the size and competitiveness of the field will require him to avoid the incidents that disrupted his previous weekend.
Donington podium finishers carry momentum into Round 4
Several drivers outside the leading three also arrive at Silverstone after producing strong performances at Donington Park.
Luke Hilton secured victory in Race 1 for Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing, with Fortec Motorsports rookie Franciszek Cegielski finishing only half a second behind him in second.
Pace Performance’s Torrin Byrne also claimed his maiden GB4 podium after charging from 17th to third in Race 2. The 17-year-old gained nine positions on the opening lap before navigating the remaining incidents and maintaining his place inside the top three.
Those results highlighted the depth of competition throughout the field. Furthermore, both Cegielski and Byrne have now identified a maiden victory as their next target.
Cegielski leads rookie contenders into Silverstone
Cegielski heads the Rookie Championship after the opening three rounds and sits ninth in the overall standings with 101 points.
The Polish driver has completed the last six races inside the top 10. His Donington podium also confirmed his ability to compete against GB4’s more experienced frontrunners.
Fox Motorsport’s Jasser Iskander made progress at Donington as well. The Saudi Arabian started the reverse-grid finale from pole and finished seventh, securing his best GB4 result and ending the race as the highest-placed rookie.
Iskander believes his midfield battle has strengthened his confidence ahead of his second Silverstone appearance. With several rookies continuing to develop, the category battle should provide another competitive element throughout the weekend.
Silverstone testing points towards close Qualifying fight
Cegielski completed pre-event testing with the fastest time after recording a 2m02.261s lap during Friday’s final session.
Elite Motorsport’s Matan Achituv finished only 0.003s behind, while Thursday pacesetter Hilton completed a top three separated by less than 0.050s. Green followed in fourth, with Fortec’s Thomas Ingram Hill fifth.
Only 0.626s covered the top 10, while the leading 13 drivers finished within one second of Cegielski. Those margins suggest that traffic management and clean laps could play decisive roles during the 15-minute Qualifying session.
Silverstone’s long Grand Prix layout gives drivers several opportunities to use the slipstream. However, the 29-car field will also make finding clear track difficult as each contender attempts to record two competitive laps.

The drivers received 90 minutes of running across three sessions on Thursday before completing another three tests on Friday.

Teams used Friday’s final running to complete their preparations before the competitive sessions began.

The 15-minute Qualifying session will establish the starting orders for the opening two races.
Each driver’s fastest lap will set the Race 1 grid, while their second-fastest time will determine the Race 2 order.
Race 1 will begin at 14:40, with the field contesting a 20-minute race around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Race 2 will begin Sunday’s action before the reverse-grid Race 3 concludes the weekend later in the afternoon.
