James Egozi completed a perfect double at Monza with victory in Race 2 of the 2026 Eurocup-3 weekend, coming through a chaotic race featuring several lead changes, three Safety Car interventions and a series of post-race penalties.
The Palou Motorsport driver crossed the line ahead of teammate Heitor Dall’Agnol to initially secure another 1-2 for the team. However, Dall’Agnol was handed a 10-second penalty after the race, dropping him to 16th in the final classification. René Lammers was therefore promoted to second for MP Motorsport, while Kacper Sztuka inherited the final podium position for Tecnicar by Amtog.
Egozi’s win was his second of the Monza weekend and sixth of the season, extending his championship advantage to 93 points over Ean Eyckmans heading into the second half of the campaign.
El Feghali leads from pole as Egozi drops back
Sunday morning’s Qualifying 2 took place on a greasy circuit following a short rain shower, with Christopher El Feghali taking his second pole position of the 2026 season.
The Drivex driver produced a 1:41.605, beating championship leader Egozi by just 0.006s. Keanu Al Azhari qualified third, while Rafaël Pérard started from fourth.
El Feghali came under immediate pressure when the lights went out. Egozi attacked the polesitter through the opening Rettifilo chicane, but the Lebanese driver defended the lead.
The battle continued towards the Variante della Roggia, where Egozi locked up under braking. The Palou Motorsport driver was forced to take to the escape road and rejoined in sixth, losing several positions and leaving El Feghali at the front.
With Egozi recovering, Dall’Agnol emerged as the main challenger to El Feghali.
The Brazilian closed onto the back of the Drivex driver before finding his way into the lead as Lap 2 came to an end.
El Feghali retakes the lead before Pérard retires
El Feghali remained close and fought back at the beginning of Lap 4, reclaiming first place from Dall’Agnol.
Pérard was directly behind the pair and attempted to capitalise on the battle while running in their slipstream. However, the Palou Motorsport rookie made contact with Dall’Agnol, damaging his right-rear suspension.
Pérard spun onto the inside grass and was forced to retire after completing just three laps. His stricken car brought out the first Safety Car of the afternoon.
The neutralisation lasted only a single lap before racing resumed, but the green-flag action was short-lived.
Second Safety Car after multiple incidents
A second Safety Car was required on Lap 6 following several incidents around the circuit.
Among them was further contact at the front between Dall’Agnol and El Feghali. Dall’Agnol hit the left-rear of the Drivex car at the apex of Turn 2, an incident which would later earn the Palou Motorsport driver a three-place grid penalty for the next race in which he participates.
El Feghali survived the contact but dropped away from the battle for the lead, while Dall’Agnol found himself at the head of the field for the next restart.
The lengthy neutralisation considerably reduced the amount of green-flag racing remaining, with the field finally released at the end of Lap 9.
Al Azhari takes the lead
Al Azhari immediately attacked Dall’Agnol when racing resumed.
The Hitech driver made his move into the Variante della Roggia and grabbed the lead, putting himself in position to challenge for his second victory of the 2026 campaign.
Behind them, Egozi continued repairing the damage from his first-lap mistake.
On Lap 11, the championship leader attacked into Rettifilo and moved into second place, putting himself directly behind Al Azhari.
However, another incident at the opening chicane immediately interrupted the fight.
Huge collision brings out third Safety Car
Alceu Feldmann was involved in contact with Sztuka at Turn 1 before spinning across the circuit and into the path of Bart Harrison.
Harrison had nowhere to go and struck Feldmann’s MP Motorsport car, before Nathan Tye then hit Harrison from behind.
All three were eliminated from the race, triggering the third Safety Car intervention. Feldmann would subsequently receive a five-place grid penalty for the next race in which he participates for his role in the accident.
Feldmann, Harrison and Tye were each classified as non-finishers after completing 10 laps. Juan Cota, Filippo Fiorentino and Andrej Petrovic had already dropped out after five laps, while Pérard was also among the retirees.
The Safety Car remained out for only one lap, setting up another restart and a fight for victory.
Dall’Agnol takes the lead before Egozi strikes back
Al Azhari headed the field when racing resumed, but his advantage did not last.
Dall’Agnol attacked into Rettifilo and moved back into first place, while Egozi also found his way past Al Azhari as the Hitech driver slipped out of the top two.
With Dall’Agnol now ahead of him, Egozi wasted little time in making his move.
One lap later, the championship leader attacked his teammate into the same opening chicane and completed the pass for first place.
Behind the Palou Motorsport pair, Lammers also attacked Al Azhari for third. The pair made wheel-to-wheel contact during their battle, but both continued, with Lammers emerging ahead.
From there, Egozi remained in control.
Egozi crosses the line ahead of Dall’Agnol
After 15 laps, Egozi crossed the line in 31:55.364 to complete his Monza double.
Dall’Agnol followed just 0.539s behind on the road, apparently completing another Palou Motorsport 1-2, while Lammers crossed the line third.
However, the final classification changed considerably following the stewards’ investigations.
Dall’Agnol received a 10-second time penalty for using push-to-pass under Safety Car conditions, dropping him from second to 16th.
The penalty promoted Lammers to second, 0.832s behind Egozi, while Sztuka climbed from fourth on the road to third. It was Sztuka’s second podium of the 2026 season.
Alex Powell was promoted to fourth for Griffin Core by Campos, only 1.815s behind Egozi, with championship contender Eyckmans completing the top five.
Genaro Trappa finished sixth ahead of polesitter El Feghali.
Further penalties alter the final order
Al Azhari was classified eighth despite recording a total race time quicker than seventh-placed El Feghali. The Hitech driver received a one-position drop in the race, while his fastest lap was also deleted.
That left El Feghali seventh, with Enzo Tarnvanichkul and Rayan Caretti completing the top 10.
The stewards were kept busy further down the order. Stylianos Kolovos, Thomas Strauven and Stefan Bostandjiev each received 10-second penalties, while Dall’Agnol was additionally given his three-place grid drop for the incident with El Feghali.
Trappa, Powell and Eyckmans each received their first reprimand.
Despite losing the lead and later being involved in contact, El Feghali ended the race with the official fastest lap. The Drivex driver produced a 1:41.866 on Lap 15, averaging 204.7 km/h. His pole-setting lap earlier in the day had been a 1:41.605.

The result completed a dominant Monza weekend for Egozi. After winning Race 1 from seventh on the grid, he recovered from his early mistake in Race 2, survived the repeated Safety Car restarts and emerged from a constantly changing lead battle to secure another maximum-scoring result. With 193 points, Egozi left Monza 93 clear of Eyckmans, while Palou Motorsport extended its advantage in the Teams’ Championship to 78 points.
