Connor Willis claimed his maiden GB4 Championship victory in a dramatic reverse-grid Race 3 at Silverstone, leading every lap to complete a breakthrough weekend for Hillspeed.
The American started from pole after officials reversed the top 12 Qualifying times and controlled both the opening stages and a late restart following a lengthy Safety Car intervention. Torrin Byrne finished 1.333 seconds behind in second, while Race 2 winner Thomas Ingram Hill produced an impressive recovery from 12th to complete the podium.
Behind them, Conor Grant narrowly missed a second podium of the weekend in fourth. Fred Green also made significant progress from 11th to fifth, while championship leader Alex O’Grady limited the damage with sixth.
Willis leads Hillspeed front-row lockout
Willis started the final race from pole alongside Hillspeed teammate Enzo Hallman after the reversal of the top 12 Qualifying times determined the grid.
Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso and Josh McLean occupied row two, while Byrne initially lined up fifth. Archie Davies had qualified for the reverse-grid pole position but received a five-place grid penalty for causing a collision in Race 2, dropping the Scorpio Motorsport driver to sixth.
Franciszek Cegielski and Grant started from row four, with O’Grady and Race 1 winner Luke Hilton completing the top 10. Meanwhile, Green and Race 2 winner Ingram Hill faced recovery drives from 11th and 12th respectively.
Michael Koh also received a five-place grid penalty after officials held him responsible for causing a collision in Race 2. The sanction dropped the Arden Motorsport driver to 24th on the grid.
When the lights went out, Willis immediately made use of his pole position. He launched cleanly and established a useful advantage as the field negotiated the opening sequence.
Del Grosso eliminated as Pace pair move forward
The battle behind Willis changed immediately as Del Grosso suffered damage at Maggotts on the opening lap and retired. His elimination allowed McLean and Byrne to move into the podium positions after starting fourth and fifth.
Willis continued to lead with a relatively comfortable margin, while the Pace Performance teammates settled into second and third. However, the race soon required intervention after a major incident further down the order.
Just over one lap into the contest, Jamie Leverton, Faris Organji and William Rohan became involved in a multi-car collision at Vale. All three cars ended up stranded in the gravel, forcing Race Control to deploy the Safety Car.
The recovery operation took several minutes and removed much of the remaining race time. Consequently, the field remained neutralised until the end of lap five, leaving fewer than six minutes of green-flag running.
Willis controls crucial restart
The Safety Car erased Willis’ early advantage and placed Byrne and McLean directly behind him for the restart. Nevertheless, the Hillspeed driver remained composed when racing resumed.
Willis timed his acceleration effectively and crossed the line with approximately half a second in hand over Byrne. He maintained a similar advantage through the following lap and prevented the Pace driver from creating an immediate overtaking opportunity.
Meanwhile, the battle behind the leading pair intensified. Ingram Hill had already made substantial progress from 12th and joined the fight for the final podium position, while Hilton attempted to extend his run of five consecutive top-three finishes.
Grant also remained in contention after climbing from eighth, creating a tightly packed group behind Willis and Byrne as the race entered its final stages.
Hilton and McLean collide in podium fight
The most significant late incident came on lap seven as Hilton attacked McLean for third.
The Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing driver attempted to continue the podium streak that had included his Race 1 victory and third place in Race 2. However, Hilton slammed into the rear of McLean’s Pace Performance car while the pair fought for the final rostrum position.
The collision ended Hilton’s race and heavily delayed McLean. Race Control displayed double waved yellow flags at Vale, restricting the remaining drivers through that part of the circuit with approximately one and a half laps remaining.
Ingram Hill capitalised on the incident and moved into third. Having started 12th, the Fortec Motorsport driver completed a second consecutive podium after winning Race 2 earlier on Sunday.
Willis completes breakthrough victory
At the front, Willis avoided the incidents behind and maintained control through the closing stages.
Byrne remained within range but could not mount a serious attack before the chequered flag. Willis eventually finished 1.333s ahead to secure his first GB4 victory and first championship podium.
The result represented a significant breakthrough for the Hillspeed driver after he converted reverse-grid pole into a controlled win despite the lengthy Safety Car interruption.
Byrne claimed second and secured his second podium of the season, while Ingram Hill followed his maiden victory with third. The Fortec driver’s recovery from the sixth row also represented one of the strongest drives of the race.
Grant narrowly misses podium as Green recovers
Grant climbed four positions from eighth and finished only 1.542s behind Ingram Hill in fourth. The Douglas Motorsport Rookie consequently came close to adding another podium after his strong Silverstone weekend.
Green produced an equally important recovery from 11th. The Elite Motorsport driver gained six positions and crossed the line fifth, strengthening his points haul after finishing second to Ingram Hill in Race 2.
O’Grady started ninth and gained three places to finish sixth. Although several rivals made progress around him, the KMR Sport driver collected another solid result as he continued to defend his championship lead.
Dayton Coulthard delivered one of the race’s largest gains further behind. The Douglas Motorsport driver climbed from 14th to seventh, giving the team two cars inside the top seven.
Achituv and O’Donnell climb into top 10
Matan Achituv also progressed strongly for Elite Motorsport, moving from 13th to eighth. His result, combined with Green’s fifth place, gave Elite two cars inside the top eight despite Del Grosso’s opening-lap retirement.
John O’Donnell gained six positions for Pace Performance and finished ninth, while Davies recovered from his five-place grid penalty to complete the top 10.
Cegielski narrowly missed another top-10 finish in 11th, while Romuald Bocquet followed in 12th. Jordyn Martin secured 13th for Fortec ahead of Rookie rival Archie Bullard.
Koh recovered from his grid penalty to 15th, while Jasser Iskander and Enzo Rujugiro occupied the next two positions for Fox Motorsport. Hallman slipped from the front row to 18th, preventing Hillspeed from converting its front-row lockout into a double points finish.

Willis ends Silverstone weekend with maiden GB4 success
Willis completed the Silverstone weekend with the biggest result of his GB4 career after converting pole position into a lights-to-flag victory. Although the Safety Car removed his early advantage, he managed the restart successfully and kept Byrne behind during the final sprint.
Ingram Hill also completed a remarkable turnaround after his Race 1 disappointment. The Fortec driver followed his maiden Race 2 victory with a charge from 12th to third, giving him two podium finishes on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Green recovered important championship ground through fifth, while O’Grady continued to score consistently in sixth. Hilton’s attempt to secure a sixth consecutive podium ended in contact with McLean, bringing his impressive run to an abrupt conclusion.
With three different winners across the Silverstone weekend, Race 3 completed an event that produced breakthrough victories for both Ingram Hill and Willis while keeping the GB4 championship battle firmly alive.
