James Egozi claimed victory in a rain-affected 2026 Eurocup-3 Race 2 at Silverstone after a strong opening lap put the championship leader at the front, while late damage dropped pole-sitter Keanu Al Azhari out of contention for the podium.

Al Azhari started from pole after topping Qualifying 2, but a slow getaway immediately put the Hitech GP driver under pressure. Egozi, starting fourth, made the most of the conditions and moved through the field as the cars headed towards Copse.

The Palou Motorsport driver emerged at the front, while Al Azhari settled into second. Gianmarco Pradel also lost ground from the front of the grid, falling back through the order as the opening laps unfolded.

The wet conditions made visibility difficult, with spray hanging over the circuit as the field battled for position. Ean Eyckmans moved into the fight at the front, while Heitor Dall’Agnol also remained within striking distance. Egozi quickly began to build an advantage.

Behind him, Pradel’s race took another turn on lap three when he spun at Club, dropping him down the order. At the front, Al Azhari was unable to match Egozi’s pace as the championship leader gradually extended his lead.

The gap grew to more than three seconds, giving Egozi some breathing room as the race moved towards its closing stages. Al Azhari remained comfortably in second, however, and appeared set for another podium after his victory in Race 1.

Drama for Al Azhari

The Hitech driver’s left-front wing endplate broke and began making contact with the front-left tyre. Smoke could be seen coming from the damaged car as Al Azhari’s pace dropped dramatically.

Eyckmans immediately closed in and passed Al Azhari through Maggots. Dall’Agnol then followed through, pushing the Hitech driver further down the order.

Al Azhari’s podium hopes had disappeared in the space of a lap. At the front, Egozi remained in control and crossed the line to secure his seventh victory of the season.

Eyckmans finished second for MP Motorsport, while Dall’Agnol completed the podium for Palou Motorsport.

Lammers recovered from eighth on the grid to finish fourth, with Patrick Heuzenroeder fifth and Bart Harrison sixth. Al Azhari eventually brought the damaged Hitech car home in seventh.

Pradel recovered from his earlier spin to finish eighth, while Enzo Tarnvanichkul and Francisco Macedo completed the top ten. The result gave Egozi another significant points haul in his championship campaign.

His victory also came despite an engine issue late in the race, with water entering the engine and causing concern as he tried to manage the car through the closing stages.

Egozi nevertheless held on to take the chequered flag first, while Al Azhari’s late damage turned what had looked like another podium finish into seventh.

After a weekend that began with Al Azhari taking both poles and winning Saturday’s race, Egozi left Silverstone having answered back with victory in the wet second race and an increased championship advantage.
