After a month’s break, the 2026 F1 Miami GP Sprint qualifying was good for McLaren following their new upgrades. With Lando Norris on pole, he was the man to beat followed by Antonelli and Piastri. Ferrari fell short qualifying P4 and P7 separated by Verstappen and Russell.
Prior to the Miami GP Sprint race, Alex Albon dropped to P19 for exceeding track limits during the qualifying. Arvin Lindblad was given a pit lane start, as the Racing Bulls failed to cover his car last night. While Nico Hulkenberg’s car expired ahead of the formation lap, leaving him also out of the 2026 Miami GP Sprint race.
Piastri and Leclerc were quick to pass Antonelli’s poor launch off the line at the F1 Miami GP Sprint race. Hamilton and Verstappen fought for 6th with Verstappen pushing them both off the track. The Red Bull driver had to return the place before gaining it back later.
Hadjar had a great move on Lap 17 at Turn 4 managing to propel himself past Colapinto into 9th with 2 laps to go. The two Mercedes battled but a late 5-second penalty for track limits pushes Antonelli into 6th.
Norris wins the 2026 Miami GP Sprint Race with a 3-second lead. Leclerc spent the entire race chasing Piastri for P2 but ultimately had no luck. McLaren 1-2 rounds out the Sprint race.
Before Grand Prix qualifying, it was confirmed Gabriel Bortoleto was disqualified from P11 in the Sprint after technical checks found the engine intake air pressure on his car exceeded the maximum limit.
