The 2026 F3 grid took to the Red Bull Ring for the sole Free Practice session at the Austrian GP. See the full results from the F3 Austrian GP Free Practice session below.
Heading into the weekend, Ugo Ugochukwu leads the Drivers’ Championship by six points over his Campos Racing teammate, Théophile Naël.
Of the 30 drivers on track, Fionn McLaughlin was the only rookie to the Red Bull Ring, making his first competitive appearance at the Austrian circuit.
Salim Hanna, making his FIA Formula 3 debut with AIX Racing in place of Brad Benavides, was among the first drivers to head out on track as he adapted to the different machinery. Hanna previously competed in Formula 4 and is currently racing in the FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FREC).
TRIDENT’s Noah Strømsted and Freddie Slater appeared to have strong pace in the session, as well as Ernesto Rivera and Théophile Naël from Campos Racing. Many drivers also ran wide and dipped tyres into the gravel around the track.
Ultimately, at the end of the Practice session, Strømsted topped the timings, with Kato in P2 and Slater in P3.
