The 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) delivered three different winners during Round 6 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), as Brady Golan, Kekai Hauanio and Evagoras Papasavvas shared the victories across Rounds 15, 16 and 17.
Golan opened the Labour Day Weekend Sprints with his sixth victory of the season and took the Drivers’ Championship lead from Papasavvas. Hauanio then converted a remarkable recovery from seventh into victory in Race 2, before Papasavvas salvaged a difficult weekend by winning Sunday’s finale. The result broke CTMP’s unusual run of one driver sweeping every previous FR Americas or F4 U.S. weekend at the circuit.
Meanwhile, Cooper Shipman collected two podiums but retired from the finale following contact with Golan, while Luke Powers stood on the podium twice. James Lawley also delivered one of the weekend’s biggest breakthroughs by taking his maiden FRAC podium on home soil in Race 3. In the Masters Cup, Canadian Kevin Janzen won the opening two contests before Whitney Strickland responded with victory in the finale.
The weekend considerably altered the championship picture. Papasavvas arrived with an 8.5-point advantage over Golan but leaves Canada 10.5 points behind his title rival with only four races remaining.
Papasavvas leads 2026 FRAC CTMP Qualifying
Papasavvas immediately demonstrated his pace at CTMP by topping Friday morning Practice with a 1:15.100, 0.197s quicker than Shipman. Golan followed in third despite requiring repairs after contact damaged his car late in the session.
The Crosslink Motorsports driver maintained that advantage in Qualifying. Papasavvas produced a 1:14.916 to secure pole for Race 1, beating Golan by 0.375s. Hauanio qualified another 0.049s behind in third, while Shipman and Powers completed a tightly packed top five separated by only 0.539s.
Lawley recorded the sixth-fastest time but carried a three-place grid penalty for causing a collision, which dropped the Atlantic Racing driver to ninth. Christian Bogle, Harbir Dass and Aidan Schuh consequently each gained one starting position.

Golan takes Race 1 lead before Turn 1
Papasavvas led the field away for Friday afternoon’s opening race, but Golan produced the stronger launch from the outside of the front row. The Toney Driver Development driver moved ahead before Turn 1 and immediately took control of the race.
Behind him, Hauanio and Shipman fought closely for second. Shipman initially moved ahead at Turn 1, but Hauanio later used a crossover to reclaim the position. Powers also remained within range as the battle developed, while Papasavvas encountered a mechanical issue on the opening lap and dropped to the rear.
The championship leader nevertheless began a determined recovery. Papasavvas produced a 1:15.113, comfortably the fastest lap of the race, as he attempted to regain positions. However, his recovery ended dramatically when he crashed at Turn 5 during an incident involving Bogle. The damage brought out the caution and ultimately ended the contest.
Hauanio spin opens podium positions
Hauanio had remained Golan’s nearest challenger during the early stages, but his race changed when he spun at Turn 5. Powers and Shipman both moved through, leaving Toney Driver Development in position for a one-two finish.
Golan controlled the race from the front and led all 16 laps, eventually winning by 0.370s over Powers. Shipman followed only 0.494s further back to complete the podium, while Dass climbed from seventh on the grid to fourth. Schuh equalled his career-best FRAC finish in fifth.
Post-race penalties reshaped several positions further down. Officials added 30 seconds to Hauanio’s time for an unsafe re-entry, dropping him to ninth, while Bogle received the same sanction for causing a collision and fell to 10th. Strickland also received 30 seconds for causing a collision, while Lawley collected 10 seconds after failing to start from the pit lane as instructed.
The victory gave Golan his sixth win of 2026 and moved him ahead of Papasavvas in the Drivers’ Championship.
Janzen wins opening CTMP Masters Cup race
Janzen enjoyed a successful return to racing in his home country by winning the opening Masters Cup contest.
The Crosslink Motorsports driver spent much of the race battling Strickland, who competed with the Canada-based Atlantic Racing Team for the CTMP weekend. Janzen ultimately finished seventh overall and first among the Masters runners, while Strickland followed him in the class and Autiello completed the podium.
The result immediately reduced Strickland’s Masters advantage, although the championship leader still retained a comfortable margin entering Saturday’s second contest.

Crosslink rebuilds Papasavvas car for Race 2
Papasavvas’ Race 1 crash created an immediate challenge for Crosslink Motorsports. His crew worked late into Friday night and early Saturday morning to repair the heavily damaged No. 71 in time for Race 2. The work succeeded, allowing Papasavvas to start from pole after his fastest lap in the opener.
The championship contender initially rewarded their efforts by retaining the lead. Golan and Shipman settled behind him before Shipman found a way around his title rival and moved into second.
However, Papasavvas’ race unravelled again while he led. He spun and triggered the full-course caution, handing the advantage to Shipman. FR Americas later described a mechanical failure as the issue that eliminated Papasavvas from contention. His second consecutive non-score allowed Golan another opportunity to strengthen his newly acquired championship lead.
Hauanio charges from seventh to Race 2 victory
Hauanio faced his own difficult starting position after a timing transponder failure in Race 1 resulted in a five-place grid penalty. He nevertheless began progressing immediately from seventh and reached third before the first caution.
After the restart, Hauanio attacked Golan for second. A slide at Turn 2 briefly gave Golan an advantage, but Hauanio recovered before the end of the lap and swept around the outside at Turn 8 to claim the position.
Shipman had built a 1.5s lead, but Hauanio steadily reduced it to 0.770s before another caution erased the remaining gap. On the following restart, the Crosslink driver attacked around Shipman’s outside, completed the pass and controlled the remaining laps to take his second victory of 2026.
Shipman finished second and collected his ninth podium of the season, while Golan completed the top three and extended his championship advantage. Lawley matched his career-best finish in fourth, with Schuh fifth and Bobadilla sixth.
Hauanio breaks CTMP sweep tradition
Hauanio’s win also ended a remarkable streak at CTMP.
Before the 2026 weekend, every FR Americas or F4 U.S. visit to the circuit had produced one driver who swept all available races. Golan’s Race 1 victory and Hauanio’s success the following day guaranteed that 2026 would become the first weekend in the circuit’s championship history to feature multiple winners.
The result carried even greater significance for Hauanio because funding difficulties had nearly prevented him from competing in Canada at all. A late arrangement enabled him to make the trip and keep his championship campaign alive, before he converted the opportunity into victory.
Janzen completes Masters Cup double
Janzen also continued his perfect CTMP start by taking a second consecutive Masters Cup victory.
The Canadian fought Strickland and Autiello during another competitive class contest, with the trio trading positions around the high-speed circuit. Janzen eventually prevailed, while Strickland again finished second and Autiello took third.
Two victories across the opening races significantly reduced Janzen’s deficit to Strickland. However, Sunday still offered the championship leader an opportunity to respond before leaving Canada.

Hauanio earns first 2026 pole for CTMP finale
Hauanio’s Race 2 fastest lap earned him pole position for Sunday’s finale, giving the new race winner an opportunity to complete a double victory.
He converted the start cleanly and built an early advantage before a caution regrouped the field. Hauanio again controlled the restart, but a mechanical failure soon brought his race to a premature end.
That retirement transformed the battle behind. Shipman and Golan ran side-by-side after the restart before Shipman gained the advantage at Turn 2. The pair fought again through Turn 8 and made contact at the exit of Turn 9.
The collision sent Shipman towards pit road with suspension damage and spun Golan on the circuit. Shipman retired, while Golan restarted and continued from the rear of the surviving runners.
Papasavvas inherits Race 3 lead
The chaos handed Papasavvas first place after he had started fourth.
After two races defined by a crash and mechanical trouble, the Crosslink driver finally enjoyed a cleaner run once he reached the front. He concentrated on building an advantage and ultimately led Laps 6 through 21 to secure his fifth victory of 2026.
Papasavvas crossed the line comfortably ahead of Powers, although the Toney Driver Development driver later received a five-second penalty for a false start. The sanction did not cost Powers second place.
Lawley completed the podium and finally achieved the home breakthrough he had targeted before the weekend. The Nova Scotian had finished fourth in Race 2 before improving by one position on Sunday to secure his maiden FRAC podium and a new career-best result.
Golan penalty limits damage after Shipman collision
Golan recovered from his spin and reached the chequered flag, but officials subsequently held him responsible for the collision with Shipman.
The Stewards added 30 seconds to his race time, dropping the championship leader to eighth. However, Golan still collected four points, which proved particularly valuable after the significant advantage he had established during the first two races.
Bogle finished fourth ahead of Bobadilla, while Schuh completed another consistent weekend with sixth. Dass followed in seventh.
Shipman and Hauanio both failed to finish, creating a difficult end to weekends in which each had already stood on the podium.
Lawley claims maiden FRAC podium at home
Lawley entered CTMP with an impressive record at his home circuit but still searching for his first Formula Regional podium.
The Atlantic Racing driver had never finished lower than sixth across his previous six CTMP starts and had earned his first FRAC top-five result there in 2024. He built on that history throughout Round 6, finishing eighth after a Race 1 penalty before matching his career-best fourth place in Race 2.
Sunday finally delivered the breakthrough. Lawley avoided the incidents ahead, moved into podium contention and followed Papasavvas and Powers home in third.
His 31-point weekend increased his season total from 40 to 71 and moved him into ninth in the Drivers’ Championship.
Strickland responds with Masters Cup Race 3 win
After watching Janzen win the first two Masters contests, Strickland returned to the top step in Sunday’s finale.
The Atlantic Racing driver finished ninth overall and took his 10th Masters victory of 2026. Autiello followed him in the class, while Janzen’s early retirement prevented the Canadian from completing a perfect home weekend.
Strickland consequently leaves CTMP with 141 Masters points, 40.5 ahead of Janzen on 100.5. Autiello remains close to Janzen in third with 91.

Three different winners end CTMP sweep tradition
Round 6 produced the type of unpredictable weekend that the championship battle required as FRAC entered its closing stages.
Golan struck first by controlling Race 1 and turning an 8.5-point deficit into the championship lead. Hauanio then became the second winner of the weekend after fighting through from seventh in Race 2, ending CTMP’s historical pattern of one driver sweeping every race at the venue. Papasavvas completed the trio by salvaging victory from a weekend that had included a major crash and another mechanical failure.
Powers also produced another strong round, finishing second in Races 1 and 3, while Shipman collected third and second before his finale retirement. Lawley’s first podium provided the home highlight, while Schuh continued his increasingly consistent rookie campaign with fifth, fifth and sixth across the three races after post-race classifications.
Golan takes 10.5-point FRAC championship lead
The title fight changed hands despite Papasavvas ending the weekend with victory.
Golan entered CTMP on 195 points, 8.5 behind Papasavvas. Victory, third and eighth earned him 44 points across the three contests, taking him to 239. Papasavvas scored only the 25 points from his Race 3 victory following two non-scores and leaves Canada on 228.5. Golan therefore holds a 10.5-point advantage with four races remaining.
Shipman remains third on 192 after adding 33 points. Hauanio moves to 143.5 and climbs ahead of Bogle, who sits fifth on 140.5, while Powers closes to only 2.5 points behind Bogle after another 36-point weekend moved him to 138.
The CTMP weekend also strengthened Toney Driver Development’s position in the Teams’ Championship. TDD increases its total from 374 to 468, while Crosslink moves from 366 to 454. The gap therefore grows from eight to 14 points despite Papasavvas’ finale victory. Kiwi Motorsport remains third on 288.
FRAC now heads to VIRginia International Raceway for its penultimate event weekend. Only two races at VIR and two more at Barber Motorsports Park remain, leaving Golan and Papasavvas separated by just 10.5 points as the 2026 championship reaches its decisive phase.
