Qualifying for round 5 of the 2026 F1 Academy season at the United States GP in Austin has been completed, view the full results here.
For this weekend, the 17 regular drivers were joined by Wild Card Alexia Danielsson of Sweden. As always, the one-off entrant joins Rachel Robertson and Ava Dobson at Hitech.
As was the case in Montreal, there is an extra race held this weekend. The Opening Race takes place on Friday, with the Reverse Grid contest on Saturday, followed by the Feature Race on Sunday.
Heading into the Austin round, Alisha Palmowski had the opportunity to seal the crown before the last round in Las Vegas next month. The Red Bull backed driver holds a 48-point lead over Emma Felbermayr after winning the last four Opening/Feature Races. Nina Gademan is third in points, 17 adrift of the Austrian.
Alba Larsen, who was recently confirmed to be doing a third season in the series, was a distant 4th ahead of the weekend, although her two P2s at the previous round in Zandvoort vaulted her up the standings.
It is a home race for Payton Westcott (P5), Kaylee Countryman (P14) and Ava Dobson (P15), with the Mercedes and Haas backed drivers recently speaking to Pit Debrief about their campaigns so far. Westcott grabbed her first win in the series at Zandvoort.
Megan Bruce, Ella Lloyd, Mathilda Paatz, Natalia Granada and Rafaela Ferreira rounded out the top 10 in the championship ahead of a weekend where a potential 65 points are on the table.
In Free Practice earlier in the day, it was Felbermayr fastest from Palmowski and Gademan as the top 3 in the standings continued to show the way. Home hero Westcott was in P4.
