Evagoras Papasavvas extended his lead in the 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) after combining second place with a home victory during Round 3 at Mid-Ohio. The Crosslink Motorsports driver now leads the Drivers’ Championship with 118.5 points. Behind him, Brady Golan moved into second, while Cooper Shipman slipped to third despite scoring twice.
Christian Bogle and Race 1 winner Kekai Hauanio complete a tightly packed group from second to fifth. Only 5.5 points separate those four drivers heading into the next round.
Papasavvas establishes a 31-point advantage after 2026 FRAC Mid-Ohio Round
Papasavvas arrived at Mid-Ohio with a 12.5-point championship lead over Shipman. However, another consistent weekend allowed the Ohio native to increase that advantage considerably. The Crosslink driver finished second behind teammate Hauanio in Race 1, collecting 18 points. He then capitalised on contact between Hauanio and Shipman to take the lead in Race 2 before controlling both Safety Car restarts on his way to victory.
His 43-point haul moved him from 75.5 to 118.5 points. Consequently, he now holds a 31-point advantage at the top of the standings.
Papasavvas has combined outright speed with consistency throughout the opening three rounds. He has now scored strongly at NOLA, Road America and Mid-Ohio, allowing him to create the first substantial championship lead of the season.
Golan moves into second place
Golan produced another strong weekend for Toney Driver Development after beginning the event fifth in the standings. He secured pole position for Race 1 with a 1:18.066 before finishing third behind the two Crosslink cars. The American then followed Papasavvas home in Race 2 to add another 18 points.
Those two podium finishes added 33 points to Golan’s total and moved him onto 87.5 points. As a result, he climbed three positions and now sits second in the Drivers’ Championship. However, Golan holds only half a point over Shipman. Therefore, the fight to become Papasavvas’s closest challenger remains finely balanced.
Shipman slips despite two fourth-place finishes
Shipman entered Mid-Ohio second in the standings on 63 points, only 12.5 behind Papasavvas. The Kiwi Motorsport rookie finished fourth in both races and recorded the fastest lap in each contest. Nevertheless, his 24-point weekend could not match the totals recorded by Papasavvas and Golan.
Shipman now sits third with 87 points, just half a point behind Golan. He remains firmly involved in the championship battle, although Papasavvas has opened a 31.5-point gap over him.
The Race 2 contact with Hauanio also denied Shipman an opportunity to convert pole position into a stronger result. Still, his recovery to fourth allowed him to limit the damage.
Bogle maintains his consistent campaign
Bogle dropped from third to fourth in the standings despite recording his strongest points haul of the season. The Toney Driver Development driver finished fifth in Race 1 before inheriting third in Race 2 following Dass’s post-race technical penalty.
Those results added 25 points to his total, moving him from 57.5 to 82.5. He now sits five points behind teammate Golan and only half a point ahead of Hauanio.
Although Bogle has yet to win a race in 2026, his regular points finishes have kept him inside the championship’s leading group. Moreover, his Race 2 podium ensured that Toney Driver Development placed two cars inside the top three.
Maiden victory lifts Hauanio to fifth
Hauanio produced the breakthrough performance of the Mid-Ohio weekend in Race 1. Starting third, the Crosslink rookie moved into the lead during the opening lap and resisted pressure from Papasavvas and Golan to claim his maiden FR Americas victory.
The result earned him 25 points and briefly placed him in a strong position to make further championship gains. However, his Race 2 penalty significantly reduced his overall return.
Officials added 30 seconds to Hauanio’s race time after ruling that he had caused a collision. The penalty dropped him to 10th and left him with only one point from the second contest.
Hauanio therefore gained 26 points across the weekend and now holds fifth with 82. He sits only half a point behind Bogle and 5.5 points behind second-placed Golan.
Powers remains sixth after missing Mid-Ohio
Luke Powers did not compete at Mid-Ohio and remained on 45 points. Despite his absence, the points he collected during the opening two rounds proved sufficient to retain sixth place. However, the five leading drivers have now created a sizeable margin over the rest of the field.
Powers sits 37 points behind Hauanio and 73.5 behind championship leader Papasavvas.
Lawley strengthens seventh place
James Lawley added nine points to his championship total during a productive weekend for Atlantic Racing Team. The Canadian finished 10th in Race 1 before climbing from 10th on the Race 2 grid to finish sixth. As a result, he moved from 25 to 34 points and consolidated seventh place.
Lawley now holds an 11-point advantage over a three-way tie involving Dass, Eric Wisniewski and Barrett Wolfe.
Three drivers tied on 23 points
Dass, Wisniewski and Wolfe leave Mid-Ohio level on 23 points. Dass scored eight points with sixth place in Race 1. Although he crossed the line third in Race 2, officials moved him to the back of the classification after post-race checks found that his engine oil sat below the required minimum level.
Wisniewski made one of the weekend’s largest gains. He finished 12th in the opening race but climbed to seventh in Race 2, earning six points and moving from 17 to 23.
Wolfe added two points through ninth place in Race 1. However, he failed to finish Race 2 after completing 14 laps.
Schuh makes significant championship gain
Aidan Schuh entered the weekend with only three points but emerged with 17. The Crosslink rookie finished eighth in Race 1 before producing his best result of the season with fifth in Race 2. His 14-point haul moved him ahead of Alejandro Bobadilla and Strickland.
Bobadilla added six points through seventh place in Race 1 and now holds 13. Meanwhile, Strickland earned four points by finishing eighth overall in Race 2, lifting his total to 11.
Jonathan Cottrill remains on six points after missing the event, while Janzen increased his total to four with ninth place in Race 2.

Crosslink takes control of the Teams’ Championship
Mid-Ohio also changed the lead in the Teams’ Championship. Toney Driver Development entered Round 3 seven points ahead of Crosslink Motorsports. However, Hauanio and Papasavvas delivered the maximum eligible Crosslink score in Race 1 by finishing first and second.
Papasavvas then won Race 2, while Schuh’s fifth-place finish provided the team’s second eligible score. Only a team’s two highest-finishing cars contribute towards its championship total.
Crosslink added 78 points across the two races and moved from 131.5 to 209.5. Therefore, the team now leads Toney Driver Development by 13 points.
Toney remains close after double Race 2 podium
Toney Driver Development also enjoyed a strong Mid-Ohio weekend. Golan and Bogle supplied the team’s points in both contests, combining for 25 in Race 1 before scoring 33 through second and third in Race 2.
Toney added 58 points to move onto 196.5. Although it lost the championship lead, the team remains within striking distance of Crosslink ahead of the next round.
The gap between the two leading teams now stands at 13 points. Therefore, a single strong race could alter the championship order again.
Kiwi holds third but loses ground
Kiwi Motorsport remains third after adding 32 points at Mid-Ohio. Shipman’s two fourth-place finishes accounted for 24 points, while Dass contributed eight through his sixth-place result in Race 1.
However, Dass’s Race 2 technical penalty prevented Kiwi from adding another major score. The team now holds 110 points, leaving it 86.5 behind Toney and 99.5 behind Crosslink.
Atlantic and Hillenburg draw level
Atlantic Racing Team and Hillenburg Motorsports leave Mid-Ohio tied on 34 points. Lawley scored all nine of Atlantic’s points during the weekend, including eight for his sixth-place finish in Race 2.
Meanwhile, Hillenburg added 10 points through Wisniewski and Strickland in the second race. Their seventh and eighth-place finishes represented the team’s strongest combined result of the season.
MLT Motorsports remains sixth on six points, while Momentum Motorsports occupies seventh without a point.

Mid-Ohio creates two contrasting title fights
Mid-Ohio allowed Papasavvas to establish a clear advantage in the Drivers’ Championship. His 31-point lead gives him valuable breathing room after six completed races. However, the contest behind him remains exceptionally close. Golan, Shipman, Bogle and Hauanio sit within 5.5 points of one another, meaning a single result could completely reorder second through fifth.
Crosslink also overturned its seven-point deficit in the Teams’ Championship and now leads Toney by 13. The two teams have already separated themselves from Kiwi, but their own contest remains open.
Papasavvas and Crosslink carry the momentum forward. Nevertheless, Golan, Shipman, Bogle and Hauanio remain close enough to respond as the 2026 championship continues.
