Nikita Bedrin completed a perfect weekend at the Red Bull Ring by controlling Race 2 from pole position and securing his sixth GB3 Championship victory of the 2026 season.

The VRD Racing driver led all 18 laps and gradually extended his advantage over Xcel Motorsport’s Lucas Fluxá, eventually crossing the line 3.458s clear. Maxim Rehm completed the podium for Rodin Motorsport after widespread track-limits penalties altered the final classification.

Bedrin also recorded the race’s fastest lap with a 1m25.643s as he strengthened his championship lead with a second victory of the Austrian weekend.

Bedrin controls the start from pole position

Bedrin made a strong launch from pole and retained the lead into Turn 1, immediately placing himself in control of the race.

Behind him, Fluxá attacked front-row starter Martin Molnar on the run towards the opening corner. The Xcel Motorsport driver completed the move and claimed second, while his team-mate Rowan Campbell-Pilling also passed Molnar during the first lap.

The early changes left Bedrin leading Fluxá and Campbell-Pilling, with Molnar dropping from second to fourth. Rehm followed his Rodin team-mate and remained close enough to challenge as the race developed.

However, Bedrin quickly settled into a consistent rhythm at the front. He added approximately one or two tenths to his advantage on several laps, gradually moving beyond Fluxá’s immediate reach without placing his tyres under unnecessary pressure.

Fluxá keeps Campbell-Pilling at a distance

Fluxá maintained second after his decisive opening-lap move and delivered another composed performance following his runner-up finish in Race 1.

Campbell-Pilling initially remained within range of his team-mate but never moved close enough to launch a sustained attack. Instead, Fluxá managed the gap and concentrated on protecting second while Bedrin edged further clear.

The two Xcel drivers crossed the line second and third on the road. However, track-limits infringements ultimately removed Campbell-Pilling from the podium battle.

Officials handed the British driver 15 seconds in cumulative penalties, dropping him from third to eighth in the final result. Fluxá avoided the same problems and secured his second podium of the weekend, continuing his increasingly competitive run of form.

Rehm passes Molnar for final podium position

The penalties promoted Rehm to third, although the German also earned the position through a late on-track move against Molnar.

The Rodin Motorsport pair remained closely matched through the second half of the contest. Rehm gradually reduced the gap before completing the pass that placed him fourth on the road and in position to inherit a podium after Campbell-Pilling’s penalty.

Molnar remained close to his team-mate and finished only 0.550s behind him in the final classification. However, the Hungarian had to settle for fourth after starting alongside Bedrin on the front row.

Rehm’s podium provided some recovery after penalties dropped him from the Race 1 podium fight. Meanwhile, Molnar completed the weekend with two top-four finishes but remained without the maiden victory he had targeted after securing pole on Saturday.

Patricio Gonzalez resists Pulling pressure

Patricio Gonzalez finished fifth for VRD Racing after spending much of the second half defending from Abbi Pulling.

Pulling repeatedly used the Drag Reduction System to remain close to the Mexican and explored moves around the outside. However, Gonzalez positioned his car effectively and resisted every attempt.

The pair crossed the line separated by 0.804s, giving VRD Racing two cars inside the top five and Rodin Motorsport three inside the top six.

Rodrigo Gonzalez followed in seventh for VRD Racing after completing a clean race. Campbell-Pilling dropped behind him to eighth once officials applied his penalties, while Kyuho Lee and Ricardo Baptista completed the top 10.

Track-limits penalties transform lower order

Track limits affected almost half of the 19-driver field and significantly changed the finishing order.

Lee and Lewis Gilbert each received five-second penalties. Meanwhile, Campbell-Pilling, Flynn Jackes, Yuhao Fu and Peter Bouzinelos joined several others in receiving a total of 15 seconds for repeated infringements.

The consequences proved particularly severe for Hitech drivers Deagen Fairclough and Jacob Micallef. Fairclough crossed the line sixth and Micallef finished 11th on the road, but both received 15-second penalties and an additional 30 seconds after failing to serve drive-through penalties.

Those sanctions dropped Fairclough to 17th and Micallef to 18th. Leon Wilson received the same combination of penalties and finished 19th, one lap behind the winner.

Bouzinelos also received a one-position result drop in addition to his track-limits sanction. The penalty placed him 16th despite his adjusted race time remaining quicker than the drivers immediately ahead.

Bedrin completes commanding Red Bull Ring double

While several rivals lost positions through penalties, Bedrin completed a fast and controlled race without attracting any sanctions.

The championship leader remained within the circuit limits, managed the gap to Fluxá and avoided unnecessary battles. His fastest lap and three-second winning margin underlined his control of the contest.

Bedrin therefore leaves the first two races at the Red Bull Ring with maximum victory returns. Fluxá also claimed his second podium of the weekend, while Rehm inherited third following Campbell-Pilling’s penalties.

The reverse-grid final race of the weekend begins at 14:15 local time.
