Nikita Bedrin delivered another commanding performance to secure his second victory of the GB3 Championship weekend at Silverstone. After winning race one, the VRD Racing driver backed it up with a composed and clinical drive in a race filled with incidents, safety cars and fierce midfield battles.
Although Bedrin briefly lost the lead at the start, he quickly reasserted control and never relinquished it again, underlining his early-season dominance.
Early battle sets the tone of Race 2 at the 2026 GB3 Silverstone opener
At lights out, Deagen Fairclough made an excellent launch and surged past Bedrin into the lead at Copse. However, Bedrin responded immediately. Within a few corners, he reclaimed first place through Becketts and then defended firmly into Stowe.
Fairclough remained close during the opening laps, keeping the pressure on. Nevertheless, the race complexion changed on lap three when Peter Bouzinelos retired, prompting the first Safety Car.
Restart precision gives Bedrin the edge in a race marked by midfield chaos and bold moves
When racing resumed, Bedrin executed a near-perfect restart. He accelerated early and caught Fairclough off guard, building a gap of nearly eight tenths of a second by the time they crossed the line. From that moment, Bedrin controlled the pace at the front. Meanwhile, the midfield battles intensified, producing some of the most exciting moments of the race.
A scrap between Rowan Campbell-Pilling and Lucas Fluxa ignited a multi-car fight for ninth place. As a result, several drivers became entangled in a tense and aggressive contest.
Kyuho Lee held his ground under pressure, while Alex Kattoulas suffered front wing damage after contact. Amid the chaos, Leon Wilson capitalised brilliantly. He sliced through the pack from 13th to 10th, finishing the sequence with a bold move on Rodrigo Gonzalez at Maggots.
Second Safety Car shakes up the order
The race took another twist on lap eight when Fairclough retired from second place, triggering a second Safety Car. Consequently, Maxim Rehm and Abbi Pulling moved up into second and third for Rodin Motorsport. This development set up a one-lap sprint to the finish, raising the stakes for a dramatic conclusion.
At the final restart, Bedrin again judged things perfectly. He delayed his acceleration before powering out of Luffield, maintaining control into the closing corners.
Behind him, however, chaos erupted. Pulling and Patricio Gonzalez collided while battling for third place. Gonzalez initially moved ahead, but Pulling fought back around the outside at Stowe. As they approached Vale, contact sent Gonzalez airborne over Pulling’s car, forcing her retirement.
Although Gonzalez continued, he dropped down the order. As a result, Lucas Fluxa inherited the final podium position.
Bedrin seals victory in style
Despite the late drama, Bedrin remained unchallenged at the front. Maxim Rehm followed him home in second but could not mount a serious attack. Bedrin crossed the line to secure a well-earned second win of the season and the weekend.
With two wins from two races, Bedrin has established himself as the driver to beat. Moreover, his composure under pressure and precision on restarts suggest he will remain a serious contender as the championship progresses.
