Fred Green completed a Brands Hatch double with a dominant victory in Race 2, but Alex O’Grady secured the 2026 GB4 Drivers’ Championship with second place for KMR Sport.
Green controlled the reduced 18-minute contest from pole and steadily built his advantage throughout the 13 laps, eventually crossing the line 5.163s clear. However, O’Grady only needed a podium to end Green’s remaining championship hopes and moved from third to second at the start, where he remained until the chequered flag.
Thomas Ingram Hill completed the podium for Fortec Motorsports, while Enzo Hallman and Franciszek Cegielski rounded out the top five. The result left Green with two victories from the opening two races of the Brands Hatch finale, but O’Grady’s consistency proved enough to put the championship beyond his rival’s reach before the reverse-grid finale.
O’Grady makes decisive move at the start
Green started from pole after his second-fastest lap during Saturday’s Qualifying session gave him the top spot for the second consecutive race. Ingram Hill joined him on the front row, while O’Grady started third knowing that he simply needed to finish on the podium to become champion.
The championship leader therefore entered Race 2 in a considerably stronger position than Green. After finishing second to his rival in Race 1, O’Grady held a 43-point advantage. Green remained mathematically capable of overturning that deficit, but needed to substantially outscore O’Grady and prevent him from reaching the podium.
O’Grady removed much of that possibility within seconds of the start. Green launched cleanly from pole and maintained the lead, while O’Grady produced another strong getaway from third. The KMR Sport driver passed Ingram Hill into Paddock Hill Bend and immediately moved into the position he needed to secure the championship.
The start mirrored Race 1, when O’Grady also passed Ingram Hill on the opening lap to minimise the number of points Green could recover. This time, however, second place did more than limit the damage. It placed O’Grady firmly on course for the championship.
Green controls Race 2 from the front
While the championship battle effectively settled into place behind him, Green immediately began establishing his advantage at the front.
The Elite Motorsport driver had already demonstrated his pace throughout the weekend after taking a double pole in Qualifying and converting the first into victory on Saturday. Race 2 followed a similar pattern, although Green ultimately produced an even more comfortable winning margin.
A sequence of fastest laps allowed him to gradually move clear of O’Grady, who had little reason to take additional risks while occupying the position required to become champion. Green continued to extend the gap and ultimately completed the 13 laps in 18m37.819s, averaging 101.87mph around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Green also claimed the race’s fastest lap with a 1m24.969s on Lap 10, averaging 103.09mph. O’Grady set his own best lap on the same tour but remained 0.199s slower, while Ingram Hill’s quickest effort came one lap earlier.
By the chequered flag, Green had extended his advantage to 5.163s. The victory completed a perfect record across the two conventional-grid races at Brands Hatch, having started both from pole and won both.
However, even another maximum score could not keep his championship challenge alive.
O’Grady withstands Ingram Hill pressure to become champion
O’Grady did not need to challenge Green once he moved into second. His attention instead turned towards Ingram Hill, who remained close enough to threaten the position required to settle the championship.
The Fortec driver remained within range but could not produce a serious attempt to regain second. O’Grady maintained a controlled pace and avoided the type of mistake that could have reopened the title battle, eventually finishing 1.318s ahead of Ingram Hill.
Second place gave O’Grady the result he needed. Green had reduced the championship deficit from 49 to 43 points with his Race 1 victory, but the post-Race 1 permutations left O’Grady requiring only a podium to move beyond Green’s maximum possible final score.
By finishing second, the 17-year-old therefore became the 2026 GB4 Drivers’ Champion with the reverse-grid Race 3 still to come.
O’Grady joins Nikolas Taylor, Tom Mills, Linus Granfors and Ary Bansal on the list of GB4 champions. The title also comes during his second season in the championship and marks his first championship since his successful 2019 karting campaign.
Ingram Hill completes podium as Hallman takes fourth
Ingram Hill lost second to O’Grady at the start but retained third throughout the race to secure another podium at the Brands Hatch finale.
His focus had already shifted away from the Drivers’ Championship after Race 1 mathematically eliminated him from title contention, but the Fortec driver remained involved in the close fight for third in the standings. His second podium of the weekend therefore added another valuable haul before the season-ending reverse-grid contest.
Hallman followed in fourth for Hillspeed after making progress from fifth on the grid. The Swede benefited from Torrin Byrne’s mistake on Lap 2, when the Pace Performance driver ran wide into the gravel at the final corner and dropped several positions.
Cegielski also passed Byrne during the incident and climbed from eighth on the grid to fifth. The Fortec rookie finished only 0.733s behind Hallman, completing a strong race in which he gained three positions.
Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso followed in sixth for Elite Motorsport after also capitalising on Byrne’s excursion. Byrne recovered to seventh but finished 14.448s behind Green after starting fourth.
Willis and O’Donnell gain ground
Connor Willis continued Hillspeed’s strong race by taking eighth after starting 11th. The American gained three places and finished just under two seconds behind Byrne.
John O’Donnell made even greater progress for Pace Performance. Starting 13th, he climbed four positions to finish ninth, while Michael Koh completed the top 10 for Arden Motorsport. Koh remained in the position from which he started and crossed the line 23.039s behind the winner.
Demitri Nolan produced one of the largest gains inside the field, moving from 16th to 11th for Hillspeed. Matan Achituv finished just 0.168s behind him in 12th, with Jamie Leverton following in 13th.
Josh McLean produced the race’s biggest recovery. The Pace Performance driver started 23rd after failing to set a representative second-fastest Qualifying time but climbed nine positions to finish 14th. Faris Organji also made substantial progress from the back, gaining eight positions on his way from 24th to 16th.
Late contact eliminates Watkins
The closing stages produced drama further down the field when Jordyn Martin and Lily-May Watkins made contact at Sheene Curve with two laps remaining.
Martin suffered a snap of oversteer that sent Watkins spinning into the gravel. The KMR Sport driver could not continue and became the race’s only on-track retirement after completing 11 laps. Martin reached the finish in 18th, behind Holly Miall.
Dayton Coulthard and Conor Grant failed to start the race for Douglas Motorsport. Coulthard had been due to line up sixth, while Grant had qualified seventh and was set to continue his Rookie Cup battle with Cegielski. Their absences reduced the starting field to 22 cars.
Solenn Amrouche finished 20th on the road but collected a five-second penalty and an additional 10-second penalty for exceeding track limits. Enzo Rujugiro completed the classified finishers in 21st.
Green wins the race, O’Grady wins the championship
Green leaves the conventional-grid portion of the Brands Hatch finale with an almost flawless record. He claimed both poles, won both races and set the fastest lap in Race 2, continuing the strong late-season form that had allowed him to reduce what once stood as a 70-point championship deficit after Snetterton.
However, O’Grady ensured Green could never recover enough points to overturn the championship. The KMR Sport driver entered Brands Hatch with a 49-point advantage and responded to Green’s two victories with consecutive second places.
Both races also featured the same decisive moment. Ingram Hill started ahead of O’Grady on each occasion, but the championship leader passed the Fortec driver on the opening lap both times. Those moves allowed him to finish directly behind Green and surrender only six points per race rather than the larger swings his rival required.
That consistency ultimately settled the championship. Green produced the stronger Brands Hatch results at the front, but O’Grady arrived with enough of an advantage to absorb them. His second-place finish in Race 2 officially put the title beyond Green’s reach and made him the fifth GB4 Drivers’ Champion.
One race remains in the 2026 season, with the reverse-grid finale offering Green another opportunity to complete an impressive Brands Hatch weekend. For O’Grady, however, the central objective has already been achieved. After carrying the championship lead into the finale, two assured second-place finishes proved enough to secure the 2026 crown.
