The 2026 GB4 Championship heads to Snetterton this weekend as a 28-car field prepares to contest Races 13, 14 and 15 of the season in East Anglia.
Two days of testing will open the event on Thursday and Friday before Qualifying and Race 1 begin the competitive action on Saturday. Race 2 and the reverse-grid Race 3 will then complete the fifth round of the campaign on Sunday.
KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady arrives with a 25-point championship lead over Elite Motorsport’s Fred Green, while Luke Hilton has moved into third after another strong Silverstone weekend. However, several drivers further down the order also carry momentum after GB4 produced three different winners across its previous three races.
O’Grady takes 25-point 2026 GB4 championship lead to Snetterton
O’Grady continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship after strengthening his position through another consistent Silverstone weekend.
The KMR Sport driver sits on 247 points, 25 clear of Green on 222. Hilton occupies third with 205 points, while Hillspeed’s Enzo Hallman remains within reach on 187. Therefore, 60 points cover the leading four drivers with nine races still to come after Snetterton.
O’Grady started the previous round with an 11-point advantage over Green and survived an eventful weekend to extend that margin. He finished second behind Hilton in Race 1 before taking fifth in both of Sunday’s contests.
However, the Irishman cannot afford to relax. Green recovered strongly from a non-score in the Silverstone opener, while Hilton has emerged as another serious threat after combining victories with consistent podium finishes.
Snetterton will consequently offer another important test of O’Grady’s ability to maintain the consistency that has carried him to the championship lead.
Green looks to convert proven Snetterton pace into title gains
Green lost ground when his opening Silverstone race ended without points, but the Elite Motorsport driver responded strongly throughout the rest of the weekend.
He finished second to Thomas Ingram Hill in Race 2 before climbing to fourth in the amended reverse-grid finale. Those results kept him firmly within reach of O’Grady as the championship moved towards Snetterton.
Furthermore, Green already has encouraging form at the Norfolk circuit.
The British driver topped the opening day of GB4’s official Snetterton test in June with a 1m50.017s lap. He set the benchmark during the third session and finished 0.149s clear of Charlie Smith.
Changing track conditions complicated the second day, when Green finished seventh overall, but his earlier pace demonstrated that he can run at the front around the Snetterton 300 layout.
With a 25-point deficit to erase, Green will now aim to turn that testing speed into another strong qualifying performance and close the championship gap before the final two events.
Hilton and 2026 GB4 Silverstone winners carry momentum into Snetterton
Hilton has increasingly established himself as a major factor in the title fight.
The Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing driver won the opening Silverstone race after first-lap drama affected several of his rivals. He then secured third in Race 2 to extend a run of five consecutive podium finishes before contact ended his challenge in the reverse-grid finale.
Those results lifted Hilton to third in the championship and left him only 42 points behind O’Grady. His June Snetterton form also provides encouragement, as he finished sixth on the opening day of testing and fourth on day two.
However, Hilton will not arrive as the only driver carrying victory momentum.
Ingram Hill claimed his maiden GB4 victory in Silverstone Race 2 after passing Green at the start and leading every lap. The Fortec Motorsports driver had already secured his first championship pole earlier in the weekend and now sits sixth overall with 172 points.
Connor Willis then became another first-time winner in Race 3. The Hillspeed driver controlled the reverse-grid contest through several incidents to take victory ahead of Torrin Byrne and Ingram Hill.
Therefore, the championship heads to Snetterton with an increasingly deep group of drivers capable of challenging at the front.
Cegielski continues to set rookie benchmark
Franciszek Cegielski remains the highest-placed rookie in the overall championship as he continues an impressive first GB4 campaign with Fortec Motorsports.
The 16-year-old sits ninth overall with 139 points and has regularly challenged more experienced drivers inside the top 10.
Cegielski maintained that form at Silverstone. He qualified sixth for Race 1 and fifth on second-fastest times for Race 2 before finishing seventh and sixth in the opening two contests. He then completed the amended Race 3 classification in 10th.
Snetterton also offers another circuit where Cegielski has already demonstrated competitive pace.
He led the rookie runners on both days of the official June test, finishing eighth overall on day one before improving to fifth on the second day.
As a result, the Fortec driver enters Round 5 with another opportunity to challenge the established frontrunners while strengthening his position among the rookie contenders.
Previous Snetterton testing points towards another close fight
GB4 has already visited Snetterton for two days of official testing this season, giving much of the field useful experience of the 300 layout before the championship’s competitive visit.
Green led the opening day with his 1m50.017s effort, while Ingram Hill, Byrne, Willis and Hilton all featured inside the top six. Only 1.361s separated the top 10 despite mixed dry and wet running across the day.
Conditions changed again during the second day, when American karting graduate Charlie Smith set the overall benchmark at 1m49.076s. Ingram Hill finished 0.368s behind, with O’Grady another 0.115s back in third. Hilton and Cegielski completed the top five.
Matan Achituv, Green, Byrne, Willis and John O’Donnell completed a top 10 separated by 1.223s.
Although the varying conditions make direct comparisons difficult, the test still highlighted the number of drivers capable of producing competitive times at Snetterton.
Furthermore, the championship has developed significantly since that June running. O’Grady has moved to the top of the standings, Hilton has climbed into title contention and Ingram Hill and Willis have since become race winners.
With 28 cars sharing the circuit, finding clear space and maximising both representative laps during Qualifying could once again play an important role in determining the weekend’s first two grids.
Testing and race schedule for 2026 GB4 Snetterton
Drivers will receive more than three hours of testing across Thursday and Friday before the competitive sessions begin on Saturday.
Thursday 13 August – Live timing

Thursday gives the field just under 120 minutes of running across four sessions. Teams will use the extensive track time to establish their initial set-ups and reacquaint drivers with the Snetterton 300 layout before Friday’s final preparations.
Friday 14 August – Live timing
- 09:35–10:05 – Session 1
- 13:15–13:45 – Session 2
- 17:00–17:30 – Session 3
Three further sessions will provide another 90 minutes of testing on Friday.
With Qualifying following on Saturday morning, the final session should offer teams their last opportunity to refine their cars and prepare for the short runs that will determine the first two starting grids.
Saturday 15 August – Live timing and streaming
- 11:10–11:20 – Qualifying
- 14:55–15:15 – Race 1
Qualifying will determine the starting orders for the opening two races.
Each driver’s fastest lap will set the Race 1 grid, while their second-fastest time will establish the starting order for Race 2.
Race 1 will then begin at 14:55, with the field contesting a 20-minute race around Snetterton.
Sunday 16 August – Live timing and streaming

Race 2 will open Sunday’s GB4 action at 09:10 before the reverse-grid Race 3 concludes the weekend at 14:40.
With the championship entering its closing stages, every opportunity to score could prove increasingly important as O’Grady, Green, Hilton and the chasing pack continue their battle towards the final two rounds.
