Ahead of Fast Friday, the drivers got a third day of running in on Thursday. Qualifying attempts would be tested, while plenty of pack running took place as well.

Defending race winner and series champion Alex Palou led the way on Tuesday. Yesterday, Conor Daly was the fastest driver, narrowly beating the Spaniard. While Pato O’Ward did not feature near the top of the Fastest Speed list, he was quick on the no tow chart.

The Mexican leads at the halfway mark

A 227.308 mph lap from Arrow McLaren driver Pato O’Ward had the Mexican in P1 with three hours left on Thursday. The Meyer Shank Racing cars held P2, P3 and P4 as their four-time winner Helio Castroneves led the trio. Rossi, Robb, Grosjean, Dixon, VeeKay and McLaughlin completed the top 10.

Following a quiet start to the first part of the day, Alex Palou found himself down in 30th in the order.

In the second half of the day, running was dominated by single qualifying runs from plenty of drivers. Takuma Sato, two-time winner of the Indy 500, topped the non tow chart. Team Penske looked very strong with all three drivers, with Rinus VeeKay joining them in the top 5.

However, it was Pato O’Ward who finished up fastest thanks to his lap earlier in the day. Collet and Carpenter moved themselves into the top 10.

Tomorrow, it starts to get very serious as the boost appears for Fast Friday. Speeds should top 230 mph.
