Practice 2 for the Indy 500 and round 7 of the 2026 IndyCar season has been completed at IMS, view the full results here.

On the first day of running on Tuesday, 2025 IndyCar and Indy 500 champion Alex Palou led the way as a very late lap with a nice tow gave the 29-year-old top spot from Marcus Armstrong.

Less than an hour into day 2 and the caution appeared for a very unusual reason at IMS. A Red Bull can got on the track and the session had to be briefly stopped.

Daly leads the charts halfway through the second day

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Conor Daly continued the team’s strong start through practice as a 228.080 mph lap put him top of the charts at the halfway mark on day 2. A bunch of full-time big hitters were queued up right behind him.

Malukas (P2), Newgarden (P5) and McLaughlin (P6) were all in the top 6 for Team Penske. Chip Ganassi Racing had Palou (P3) and Dixon (P4) in the top 4. Kirkwood, Rosenqvist, Power and Armstrong filled the rest of the top 10 as Andretti and Meyer Shank Racing also looked solid.

Arrow McLaren duo Nolan Siegel and Ryan Hunter-Reay were up in P11 and P12, with Christian Lundgaard in 16th and Pato O’Ward running in 25th.

Alex Palou joined Conor Daly in the 228.0 club to go 2nd. Graham Rahal and Romain Grosjean vaulted up to 4th and 5th as they were outside the top 25 in the first half of the day.

Arrow McLaren had an extremely quiet afternoon on the Fastest Speed chart as Nolan Siegel was the lead car in P22.
