Practice 1 for the 2026 Indy NXT Arlington round is in the books, view the full results below.
Heading to a new track for every single driver on the grid, Nikita Johnson was the championship leader. The Cape Motorsports powered by ECR driver brilliantly won in St. Pete, passing Andretti’s Max Taylor on the first lap to take an early title lead.
HMD Motorsports Tymek Kucharczyk joined the American stars on the podium. The Pole had an outstanding debut in his first race Stateside. Seb Murray was 4th, while Lochie Hughes was a relatively disappointing P5 considering his strong speed last year. Myles Rowe was also looking for more after P6 in Florida.
There was two red flags in opening practice. Nicholas Monteiro was stopped in the run-off at turn 4 and could not get going quickly. Multiple other drivers also ended up down there during the session. Tymek Kucharczyk brought out the other one as he locked the rears at the end of the long straight, finding the turn 10 run-off as well.
Just like he did in St. Pete, Max Taylor set the pace in Practice 1, and then some with a 1:39.826. He was over a second clear of rookie Tymek Kucharczyk at the end of the day. The Pole clocked a time of a 1:40.946. The difference between P2 to P16 was closer than the gap between the top 2.
Beeton, Rowe, Hughes, Nannini, de Alba, Murray, de Tullio and Correa rounded out the top 10. Championship leader Johnson could only manage 14th.
It was a very tough session once again for Chip Ganassi Racing as Koolen (P19), Roe (P22), Aron (P23) and Etter (P24) struggled for pace.
